Kendo – the place where women can get their sneaker fix on…

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Leave it to the good folks over at Kendo, Arsen and Vlad, to keep the ladies of Cashmere in the newest kicks! You will often find the ladies of Cashmere here on the weekends checking out the latest arrivals and hitting Pinkberry across the street right after. Arsen sent Rona some fresh new Blazer Low Classics who sported them immediately! These kicks aren’t available at retail just yet, so she gets to rock ‘em before everyone else does.

This is one of the only spots that you’ll find exclusive, unique and colorful selection of kicks with a dope interior and friendly and helpful staff. Coachella 2008

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

What a weekend! the crew hit up the ever famous Coachella music festival in Indio, headlined by Jack Johnson, Death Cab for Cutie, Kraftwerk, Portishead, Roger Waters and Prince.

Coachella 08

Its official, Prince is the true Alternative Rocker. He is able to play virtually any instrument in virtually any style — funk, soul, R&B, gospel, pop, rock, folk, psych, new-wave etc. His set was amazing, opened up by the Time’s Morris Day and Jerome doing their “Jungle Love” oh-wee-oh wicked witch palace guard routine, followed by the stunning Sheila E, who set the audience at awe with her jaw dropping drum solo on “The Glamorous Life”. Not to mention the cover of Radiohead’s Creep, with ripping guitar riffs… seriously this guy could go on forevvver with his guitar solos! Followed by his ever popular Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain and Let’s Go Crazy. There were so many awesome parts of his show and the whole weekend that the blog could go on forever, but it has to be cut short…. It was pretty much summed up by Prince when he said… “Coachella!!!! You are at the coolest place on earth right now!!!

Roger Waters – Pink Floyd

The whole Dark Side of the Moon album was preformed making Sunday night an experience in sound. The audio was panned through the large speakers to set the ambiance. Fog filled the air as the crowd was engulfed with visual and audial elements, leading to the closing song Another Brick in the Wall. The Roger Waters set wouldn’t complete with out the Pink Floyd Pigs floating over the crowd.

A Bathing Ape Grand Opening Party

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Celebrity studded event that proved that street wear and hip hop is not dead. Mike Tyson, NERD, Lupe Fiasco, Kaws, Takashi Murakami, Kevin Love, Jermaine Dupree, Robin Thicke, Terry Kennedy, Jay Davies and of course Nigo himself. Bape wear was always sought after because of its exclusivity stateside. Now that there are two stores in the US, will it lose its popularity with the hipsters? Time will tell. But definitely check out the store in LA on the trendy Melrose strip. Go APE!

GTA IV, Konsole Kingz, Paul Wall and QD3.

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Our very own Rona (the Cashmere in-house gaming enthusiast) got her hands on a customized Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox 360! Did you hear that Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, X360) publisher Take-Two Interactive is expecting the title to achieve $400 million in sales during its first week at retail?!

GTA 4

Only 500 of these GTA IV consoles were made in the world! Two of Cashmere’s family members Paul Wall and QD3 (Quincy Jones III) were selected to participate in the Konsole Kingz and Microsoft VIP program. Each box is uniquely numbered and come with a case of Xbox accessories, complete with an Xbox Live Gold account and 1600 points to rent HD movies and buy games!

For those of you that don’t know about QD3 hit up www.qd3.com. This guy is the King of urban direct to DVD titles (take a look at what CJ and Amadi got hooked up with in the photo above)…he’s worked with everyone from Tupac to Biggie and has some really cool releases for this year including a DVD titled “Who Shot Ya,” a documentary examining the prevalence of violence in hip-hop, featuring prominent rappers & discussing their personal experiences being shot.

Chillin with the People’s Champ, Paul Wall and why Tech N9ne Loves the Mile High City.

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

The Fire & Ice Tour featuring Paul Wall and Tech N9ne made a stop through LA Tuesday night; and its a given that the Cashmere team had to stop through to check out the hype show, and show love to their extended family.

It was a night filled of flossin grillz, rockin the chains, and discussing our expensive taste with The People’s Champ Paul Wall, and Tecca Nina (Tech N9ne). It turns out that Tech N9ne and T have something in common… he loves Denver, and being that T is from Colorado the convo really kicked off. T9 loves the vibe in the Mile High City, the fresh air and chill atmosphere, not to mention he has sold out many shows there.

Tech N9ne has SoundScanned more than 800,000 units independently, and his first collaborative album, Tech N9ne Collabos Misery Loves Kompany, debuted as the No. 3 Independent album in the country upon its release in 2007. Paul Wall’s The Peoples Champ, was certified platinum and established Paul Wall as a legitimate rap superstar!

The night wasnt complete with out a Paul Wall bobble head, and taking some dope pics! Thanks for the shout out Paul!

Check out a few flicks from last nights show….

Kate’s Bento Box Love

Kate is jealous of japanese children. Not only because each and every one is cute enough to kidnap — but also because their mothers have developed this newfangled art called “bento boxes” which is the equivalent of an American kid’s boring old PBJ and 2 oreos.
Check out this site to see what the cool kids find in their lunch boxes these days. A sushi-bear?? Seriously??!

Top FroYo Picks from Rona, Cashmere Agency’s Dessert Aficionado

Ce Fiore
My favorite combo from here is acai berry and green tea, with mochi, fruity pebbles and kiwi toppings. The consistency is a lot smoother and creamier than other froyo spots in the neighborhood. If you want more of an icier consistency, then head over to Pinkberry or Cantaloop. CeFiore also serves tea and recently added crepes and waffles to their menu, all of which look really good. There is a CeFiore within walking distance from where I live , very convenient!

Tutto Tutti
This place just opened up not too long ago, right next to California Chicken Café on Melrose and Mansfield. They have some really unique flavors, the one I really like is the Double Wonder flavor (made with sea salt and caramel – I know it sounds a little weird, but believe me this is good!) topped with their fresh berry puree sauce and candied walnuts!
The decor is a cute combo of green and brown, you also get free WiFi and I love that they also serve organic coffee here…they open at 7 a.m.! Only downside is the limited parking. The people that work here and the owners are really nice and always so friendly!

Tutto

Yogurt World (if you are ever in San Diego, you’ve got to try this spot out!)
One thing I like about this spot is that they have almost over 10 flavors to choose from at a time and a big variety of toppings. It’s basically a self-serve frozen yogurt bar, similar to Menchi in Studio City. Yogurt World seems to have more toppings to choose from than Menchi, and it seems like the topping area is always a little more organized and less messy than you would find at other self serve froyo spots. My usual at this spot: original flavor with coconut, mochi, strawberries and blueberries on top! Yummy!

Kelvin’s answer to style and saftey in da hood.

If you can afford the $600 price tag this hoodie will not only keep the cold
away but also 9mm rounds. However the hoodie only protects the body, not
the head. So don’t get shot in the head.

The Walking Bike…

Do I have to say anything about this?!? This is probably the craziest thing I have seen all year… the tight thing about it are the shoes. You have Converse, Nike and Y-3. Only a straight pimp could ride this around town, this is the only reason why I cant get this insanely dope bike!!!!

The Legendary Leon Ware visits Cashmere Agency

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

The team at Cashmere Agency had the chance to sit and enjoy a very interesting conversation with non other than the iconic Leon Ware. For all of those who don’t know, Leon Ware a singer, songwriter and producer, is the man behind the music for many of the amazing hits in music since the 70’s. He has created such classics as “I Wanna Be Where You Are” (the young Michael Jackson), “Body Heat” (the great Quincy Jones), “If I Ever Lose This Heaven” (AWB, Quincy Jones), and the undeniably sensual soul classic album “I Want You” by Marvin Gaye.

His influences and collaborations continue to be heard with contemporary artists such as Maxwell (“Sumthin’ Sumthin”), John Legend ( “So High”), and for all of those Hip Hop heads…. Tupac, Ice Cube, A Tribe Called Quest among may others.

There is no way to do this man justice with words… his presence is embracing, and when he speaks, his spirit is felt through the picture painted by his words. He spoke of his experiences with fans, traveling and of course adapting to the changing music culture. Coming from a time when people introduced themselves in person, he is still adjusting to the digital age, but he is doing it with logic. Leon recognizes the importance of the internet…”The internet is such a powerful tool, ideas can be shared, and if embraced correctly, the world can be changed.” Recently signed to Stax Records, Leon is in the studio gearing up for the upcoming release of his new album… so keep an eye out for it!
