Battleground Earth Benefit Concert – Go Green!

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

The hard-charging, hard-partying, carbon-laden world of tour bus-living musicians doesn’t exactly scream green…But times are changing! Planet Green recently challenged two icons to join the newest trend in music; “going green.” Battleground Earth showcases hip hop superstar Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and rock god Tommy Lee in the battle against the toxic forces destroying Mother Earth as they travel across the country on a 10-episode tour.

This Rap n’ Roll battle culminated in a green carpet benefit concert at Los Angele’s legendary Greek Theater. Thanks to DJ Jaycee, the Cashmere crew had a chance to witness the amazing concert featuring Ludacris, Tommy Lee, Slash, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Robbie Krieger of The Doors, Dee Snyder, Train, Blue Man Group, Ziggy Marley and many more preformed in support of the renewal of Griffith Park, which was devastated by recent wildfires.

Christian Audigier’s 50th Birthday Bash brings out Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Murs, Fergie, Britney Spears & more!

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Talk about a party! The Cashmere Crew was invited to Christian Audigier’s 50th birthday party and boy were we glad to attend! Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Murs, Fergie, Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson and many more were in attendance at this milestone birthday bash on Friday, May 24th at the Peterson Auto Museum.

Christian Audigier is a French fashion designer aka Ed Hardy (tattoos drawn all over his creations) who helped make Von Dutch popular (remember the trucker cap trend?). Now he has his own clothing line, wine, a little bit of everything… and clearly knows how to throw a hot party! If you have never been to the Petersen Automotive Museum, now is the time to go because they have an awesome low rider exhibit. Once you enter the museum, the first thing you see is a really cool ice cream truck that is decked out and designed by the infamous Mister Cartoon.

After walking through the museum, you knew you were getting closer to the party when you could hear the music playing and see the bars stationed en route to the entrance. The entrance to the party was a hall washed in white and icy blue. It transitioned from hot, candy colored, low rider cars to very cool partying. Think Winter Wonderland…with women models perched on white pedestals looking like Snow Queens with makeup that looked like icicles on their face, wearing huge hoop skirts. After passing this room, you ended up an open-air rooftop with white tenting. Dancers in white were behind the bar, slowly fanning gigantic gauzy strips of sheer fabric. The bar was serving Ed Hardy water & Christian Audigier wine…talk about great branding!

It was a bit chilly outside, but things heated up with the champagne fountain. Brazilian Carnival dancers shimmied out to the fountain to collect the champagne and pass it out to partygoers.

The huge outdoor ballroom was were the party was at! It was set up like an elegant circus, like you have never seen before! The doors opened with Macy Gray serenading the crowd. Circque de Soliel style trapeze artists wrapped themselves up and down 30-foot drapes, dancers were hanging from swings up in the air, models dressed as angels and devils walked around entertaining guests and serving drinks.

Snoop Dogg was the first to hit the stage, then Fergie came out. But I think Michael Jackson was the highlight of our night! He walked onto the stage waving to the crowd, wearing a silky bright royal blue shirt. At this point it was nothing by screams, shouts, and digital cameras and phones held high up in the air. Christian spoke about Michael being the King of Pop & Michael returned the compliment by calling him the King of Fashion, the sound was deafening!

Some 500 surfers did battle at the National Scholastic Surfing Association’s 2008 West Coast Championships, and they had some dazzling waves to work with Saturday.

The five-day tournament concluded Sunday at Huntington Beach Pier as members of the NSSA’s Southwest, Gold Coast and Northwest Conferences competed for points to qualify for NSSA Nationals set for June 18-28 at Salt Creek and Lower Trestles.

I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for Ice Cream!!!

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

We were recently hit up by the folks at Interscope/Geffen (IGA) for some creative summer promotion ideas for their artists; Shwayze, Lifehouse, Robyn, Kate Voegele and Prima J. After a Cashmere Agency brainstorming session, our team established the IGA Ice Cream Truck Tour!

In less than a week, we got the truck wrapped and ready to to go! On May 10th – the ladies of Cashmere team packed up the truck, including loading the iPod with tunes of the artists, and hit the streets. The team distributed thousands of pieces of free ice cream and promotional products while sounds of Shwayze, Lifehouse, Robyn, Kate Voegele and Prima J. could be heard from the ice cream truck’s sound system. Locations hit included the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine for KIIS FM’s Wango Tango, Irvine Spectrum, Laguna Beach and Newport Beach.

Be on the lookout for the truck in Huntington Beach this weekend during the NSSA West Coast Championship Surfing Competition. What’s better than some free ice cream and swag?!?!

“So Slick calls me one day and asks me if I would like to go to Coachella and document him painting a pig for Roger Waters (formerly Pink Floyd). Of coarse I say yes. What a great time it was from start to finish. Did not get to catch any other shows, but the one I did see was worth it all.

It was Slick, Tina, Dannyboy, Ken (Flesh), and myself. Got in on Saturday and did not do much other than have a good dinner and swim at our pimp weekend house.

We worked on the pig most of Sunday in the hot sun. We got great support from the crew that was working back stage. Everyone was excited to see the finished pig. Slick and Flesh worked on the pig for about 7 hours. I took about 5000 photos, which are mostly for the time lapse that will soon come. Everything went pretty smoothly. The food was great and so were the bathrooms, but the best part of it all was that we had credentials to go anywhere. When it came time for the show, we could have gone on stage in front of the stage, under the stage, but we chose to watch from where the Director/Sound man were posted. I consider myself to have seen some pretty good visual shows, but this one by far was the best. There was soo much to see hear, and experience. That pig was used for only one song during the middle of the show and was then released into the air. The projections were amazing as well as the lighting, sound and much more.

I will definitely be looking out for the next Roger Waters show that comes around. All I can really say about the whole experience is that it was truly a blessing and an honor to be a part of it.
