We The People Festival

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
The We The People Festival is built off of the words found in the preamble. This weekend the conscious side of Hip Hop, Reggae and Punk Rock was demonstrated as a tool to demolish racial boundaries, while presenting a platform for the raw uncensored social views of the Jam Band scene. Artists like Barrington Levy, RZA, Les Claypool, Sucidal Tendencies, Murs, Dialated Peoples, Tom Morello and many more took the stage and rocked the L.A. Historic State Park.

With only 40 days left until voting, more and more people are expressing their opinions on the presidential election; but it is hard to say how many of those people will actually go out and vote. Cashmere Agency, one of the entertainment industry’s premier lifestyle marketing agencies, today announced that it has named Ryan Ford to the post of Director of Creative Strategy. Ford, a veteran of the entertainment industry, was most recently Executive Editor of The Source magazine, one of popular culture’s leading music publications, commonly known as the “Bible of Hip-Hop.”
“Ryan brings extensive knowledge of the brand discovery process shared by tech-savvy cultures,” said Ted Chung, Cashmere Agency’s Chairman. “There is an art to translating a client’s vision for young consumers. The Cashmere Agency is renown for our core competency in multi-cultural, lifestyle-driven campaigns; and we’re proud to have Ryan join our executive staff to lead the creative of these strategies.”
“Cashmere Agency provides the perfect platform to build effective and innovative communication between brands, artists and the consumer,” said Ford. “As Director of Creative Strategy, I can utilize my extensive relationships with artists, executives and media in order to create a seamless and credible message to communicate the brand through multiple touch points.”
At Cashmere Agency, Ryan will oversee creative strategies and communication to constantly identify and integrate the dynamic interaction between brands and young consumers. Ryan will work closely with Cashmere Agency’s growing list of clients including Universal Music Group, the E! Channel, THQ Wireless, Land Rover, EA, Smirnoff, Sprite, Chrysler and film and music star Snoop Dogg.
Ford, who holds a M.A. in African-American Studies from UCLA, began as an intern with The Source in 2000. Since that time he has held a number of positions including most recently Executive Editor, where he oversaw the magazine’s creative vision and wrote cover stories on Hip-Hop stars like Ice Cube, Eve and The Game. Ryan has also lent an expert voice to E!’s True Hollywood Story.
In addition, Ryan volunteers his time in the political world. Ryan acts as Coordinator for the Iowa Brown and Black Presidential Forum, a debate on minority issues that featured Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama and panelists such as Dr. Benjamin Chavis, CEO of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network. In addition, Ryan sits on the national advisory board of the National Coalition of Black Civic Participation’s Black Youth Vote initiative. Ryan has also formed Rhyme Night, a recurring Hip-Hop talent showcase event. Ryan co-founded Rhyme Night with multi-platinum rapper and actor Xzibit.

A lot of women are attracted to a guy who is intelligent, can present a challenge and is fun to be around. Let’s face it guys… that killer smile and those washboard abs can only get you so far. Tokidoki for Onitsuka Tiger Boots

Tokidoki is known for some of the freshest Japanese pop art inspired Women’s clothing and accessories. Many know them for their purses, but more recently they have expanded their line to include shoes, skate decks and snowboards. Although it doesnt snow in LA, the Tokidoki for Onitsuka Tiger Boots Talisha recieved in the mail the other day will definitly come in handy for her trips back to Colorado. On the other hand I dont think she will want to wear the limited edition signed boots in the snow ; ). Shout out to the staff over at Tokidoki for the awesome gift!
I Learned By Watching You

If you are in LA and haven’t been to the Crewest Gallery downtown, then you definitely need to go check it out. The current exhibit is Syndrome’s “I Learned By Watching You.” The show’s name was inspired by a popular, Reagan era PSA that aired on American television during the late 1980s. The concept behind each piece of art ranges from playful satire to intense realism; each representing a different take on the influence media has on our lives and opinions. The execution is an intricate mixed media process bridging traditional art forms with digital tools.
Syndrome is comprised of artists Micah Hancock, James Larese and Mars Sandoval. They began as an LA-based art collective showing in galleries in NYC and LA. Syndrome then went on to start a creative boutique under the same name. They now specialize in live-action directing for commercials, music videos and broadcast. Their most recent piece of work is the music video for T-Pain’s “I Can’t Believe It.”

2008 VMA’s

The Cashmere crew headed out with the stars in Hollywood last night as MTV held their annual Video Music Awards! Some of the hottest VMA moments ever went down this year. Rihanna kicked off the show looking hot as ever, not to mention returning to the stage later for an unbelievable performance with T.I. Finally, Kanye received due respect from the network when he closed the show with a new track “Love Lockdown”.
The fashion on the red carpet was hot and fresh for the fall last night too. Christina Aguilera looked fantastic channeling Elvira! Wow! And other girls that rocked it were Keri Hilson, Rihanna (always!), and Ciara, who had a cute new haircut! The highly anticipated return of Britney Spears did not disappoint either! She looked the best ever in years and is now even being called “comeback kid” of the VMA’s! Oh ya, the guys did pretty well too! Neyo and Ludacris showed up in really nice new looks for the upcoming fall season and T.I. showed up in a red jacket, standing out as usual with style!

The Game Vs. Bow Wow – Xbox Madden ‘09

What a match up… The Game vs. Bow Wow in Madden ‘09. So here is a little bit of the history behind the match… Bow Wow challenged The Game to a game of Madden ‘09, keep in mind The Game is a Xbox fanatic, and is constantly playing the sports games like Madden. This small challenge turned into a full blown event held at Holly’s in Hollywood, the smack talking began and money got involved… $100,000 to be exact.
Here’s a quick rundown of the event… Bow Wow talked a big game, but at the end of the day, he got it handed to him…. Bow Wow gave the excuse of playing in the snow, but everyone who watches football knows that football weather includes snow. The final score being 55-23, and the $100,000 dollar prize going to a charity of The Game’s choice. After the game was finished, Bow Wow went on to challenge Dwayne Wade. Will Dwayne Wade accept the challenge?
