Dear Lemon Lima!

Tuesday night, Cashmere got to attend the screening of Dear Lemon Lima at the Nike Montalban Theater in Hollywood.  Directed and created by the ever so talented Suzi Yoonessi, Dear Lemon Lima is one of the most precious movies we have seen in a long time.  The wittiness and innocence of each character had us laughing throughout the movie’s entirety.

Dear Lemon Lima tells the story of a young Alaskan teenager as she discovers her Yup’ik heritage, while rallying her fellow misfits to compete in her school’s Snowstorm Survivor competition.  All the awhile dealing with the heartbreak of her “first love.”

The move recently premiered at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival and has gained much attention!

“…As refreshing as an Astro-Pop on a summer’s day.” – LA Times

“More poignant than Napoleon Dynamite.” – Clevland Sun News

“Cotton Candy colored joy.” – Culver City Observer

“This hilarity…is full of spite and spirit!” – The Examiner

The Cashmere family are big supporters of this movie and what it stands for! So make sure you check out their blog to find out when the next showing is! We promise you won’t be disappointed! www.Dearlemonlima.wordpress.com

Night At The Synth Museum!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

We at Cashmere are some true music enthusiasts who truly appreciate the art of sound. So we were naturally intrigued by this video from Atrak, Kanye West’s DJ. This is a Synth Museum in Calgary, Canada. Here they have access to some of the world’s first synthesizer keyboards, along with some very unique adaptations to the standard piano. This is one of the largest collections of vintage synthesizers in North America. The resulting sound from some of the synth’s are surprising to say the least.

After a long couple of weeks of planning and preparation, all of our hard work at Cashmere finally paid off! Last Friday, in conjunction with EA and ESMG, Cashmere worked and attended the EA Sports “Rock The Mansion” party at the Playboy Mansion.  The event was in celebration of EA’s soundtrack releases for four of their latest games, including the soundtracks from NBA Live 10, NHL Live 10, FIFA Soccer 10 and Madden 10.

Open bar, food, wine, dessert and a live performance from Cypress Hill kept the party live all night! Rappers Young Dre, Twista and Xzibit were a few who attended the party, as well as actors James LeSure, Karl Yune, Bokeem Woodbine and David Ramsey.  All in all, a great night with the Cashmere fam!

Cashmere’s Got Love for University of Dreams!

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

cust-logo-3707

University of Dreams (U.O.D)  is one of the most highly regarded internship programs out there.  With a wide array of cities to choose from, college students are able to pick their perfect internship.  Cities include: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C., San Diego, Boston, London, Barcelona, Hong Kong, Sydney, Latin America and Dublin.

This Summer, Cashmere was lucky enough to get three outstanding interns from U.O.D., Cassie Ellis, Sydney Adler and Zachery Gries.  However, this is not the first time we have had a University of Dreams intern…The wonderful Misty Anderson, who is now a full-time project manager, came from the U.O.D. program 13 months ago.  Here to share a little bit of their experiences and learning process is Cassie Ellis, Sydney Adler and Misty Anderson.

Cassie’s Story:

The last four weeks have felt like a dream to me and I credit that all to the University of Dreams, no pun intended.  The University of Dreams is a program for college students all over the world that allows them to live and thrive in the city of their choice with the help of internship placement, food, housing, weekly seminars, and weekend activities.  I chose Los Angeles because I was searching for a place that was a complete 180 than where I am from (Nacogdoches, Texas) and that allowed me to experience new and exciting career that was the complete opposite of my major, Hospitality.

In the past four weeks, I have experienced so many activities that I would have never had the chance to do if I had not enrolled in this program, such as snorkeling in the rocky shores of Catalina Island, attending movie premiers, and the chance to watch Manny Rodriguez play after being suspended for several seasons.  Thanks to my internship, I was able to get VIP tickets to the Snoop Dogg concert and ended up backstage during the final band, Slightly Stoopid, which was off the chain!  I look forward to many more experiences here at Cashmere and with the University of Dreams.

Sydney’s Story:

When I arrived to Los Angeles, I wasn’t sure to what expect. Planning to live in a new city for the summer, getting housed at the UCLA dorms, working for a company and an industry that I had no experience with…I must admit it was slightly nerve racking. University of Dreams has truly been an experience like no other.  From day one, the staff has been extremely personable and helpful, making each and every “dreamer” feel right at home.

When I was applying for internships I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for. I was set up with Ryan Kahn, internship coordinator, and he guided me to find the perfect summer internship for me. After interviewing with Cashmere Agency, I had such a great feeling that this would be exactly what I was looking for.   My internship at Cashmere is exactly what I expected and more! University of Dreams has been there every step of the way making sure we are not just ok, but having an unforgettable summer. Every weekend they plan trips for us to take, as well as seminars and guidance during each week. My summer would not be what it is, if it weren’t for UOD.

Misty’s Story:

Insiders and Outsiders of the University of Dreams program always make a mild snicker and laugh when they hear the title…but the first time I glanced at the website I knew that it would be the ticket to my dream – Yes, my dream of being in Los Angeles and pursuing a major multi-faceted career in the entertainment industry. As a college graduate prior to entering the program, I knew exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it, and how I wanted it. I just needed the way to be made and my dream to come to fruition.

The University of Dreams used the character traits that the interns, or “Dreamers” had within themselves and used it for the positive. They took my drive, humility and determination to put me with a driven company seeking young jovial faces that could change the scope and trend of Entertainment Marketing. This is where I found my home – my work family – and my ticket to LA. Being very communicative with my goals and aspirations, at the end of my internship period, I was offered a job and three weeks later, I was moving from Chicago to the West Coast. A smile has been on my face ever since for my prayers were answered, my dream came true, and the learning experience has quintessential. For my destiny to line up with the University of Dreams program and for them to pair me with the best company…I will forever be Thankful!

Reebok x Cirque du Soleil

Monday, July 20th, 2009

1

Although his partnership was launched earlier in the year, we thought this partnership is probably one of the best moves Reebok has done…

Since our society is heavy on dieting and workout programs (especiallly women), Reebok definitely made a good marketing move by partnering with the infamous Cirque du Soleil.  The two companies have joined forces to launch their latest workout program called JUKARI Fit to Fly. It makes fitness fun again by introducing a new way to move in a gym workout and is accessible to all women, regardless of fitness levels. The hour-long workout has been created on a specially-designed piece of equipment called the FlySet. The result is a workout that gives the sensation of flying while strengthening and lengthening the body through cardio, strength, balance and core training.

In early 2008, the two brands came together with a single objective – make fitness fun again for women. They embarked on a journey to create an inspirational workout that would shake up and invigorate a woman’s gym routine. After eight months of development and rigorous testing JUKARI Fit to Fly was ready.

According to BusinessWire.com, the class will launch in top gyms in fourteen cities around the world including Hong Kong, Mexico City, Madrid, London, Krakow, Munich, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Montreal, Los Angeles, Boston and New York. In New York, Equinox Fitness will be the first gym to offer JUKARI Fit to Fly.

The launch of JUKARI Fit to Fly will be supported by a global integrated marketing campaign throughout 2009. Running online, outdoor, in store and in print in key markets worldwide, the campaign will feature JUKARI Fit to Fly action imagery and Reebok On The Move and Reebok Cirque du Soleil apparel and footwear.

About The FlySet and Jukari Fit to Fly Brand

picture-2

The FlySet consists of a durable three-stranded rope fixed to the ceiling with a 360 degree swivel point at an adjustable length with two attachment loops. The FlyBar, a 4.5lb neoprene coated attachable steel bar, is placed through the two loops, which can be varied in height, to create an apparatus that strengthens and lengthens the body as you experience the sensation of flying during the workout.

To complement JUKARI Fit to Fly, Reebok has also created two collections of women’s fitness apparel and footwear – On the Move and the Reebok-Cirque du Soleil collection.  Both consist of product which can be worn for a range of fitness disciplines, from running to yoga, JUKARI Fit to Fly to tennis. All have been developed and designed with a deep understanding and knowledge of the unique way a woman’s body moves.
