Ninja Assassin x My Ninja!
Friday, October 30th, 2009

With Ninja Assassin’s release date of November 25th steadily approaching, buzz for the slick martial arts movie continues to grow. One release sure to further anticipation for the flick’s premiere is a fitting collaboration between Ninja Assassin and new clothing company, My Ninja! To celebrate the movie’s impending release, My Ninja! has designed a line of limited-edition tees featuring central character Raizo, portrayed by Korean pop sensation Rain. Impressively, the pairing of Ninja Assassin and My Ninja! marks the first time that the clothing label has opted to produce a limited-edition item. The tee also has already gained notable supporters from Hip-Hop artists Raekwon and Murs, who can both be seen sporting it in a forthcoming music video. Considering its limited run, celebrated endorsers, and affiliation with a high-profile movie, you’re left with a My Ninja! article that definitely won’t be around for long!

Fashion, MoviesThese are it!
Thursday, October 29th, 2009
There seems to be a trend hitting the big screen lately. From eye-opening and life-changing films to a continuum of passionate movies carrying sincere messages…there appears to be NO slowing down of this wonderful trend. Wearing a badge of honor for being a film enthusiast, I am very excited for ‘Precious’ and ‘This Is It’ to dwell movie theaters with more than candy wrappers to take home.

Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, Precious, the Dramatic film winner at this year’s Sundance Festival, is produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, with direction from Chicago’s own Lee Daniels. The powerful cast includes Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Sherri Shepherd, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey and introduces Gabourey Sidibe in her debut role as the protagonist and [physically, verbally and emotionally] abused and illiterate teenager in Harlem with 2 children as a result of rape by her father.
With a constant buzz of Oscar nominations, Sidibe will continue in a year of firsts, possibly getting the Best Actress Award her first time around.

‘This Is It’ is a highly anticipated film that spreads the beacon of light Michael Jackson imposed on the entire world, in rare behind-the-scenes footage of the King of Pop’s last rehearsals as he prepared for his final tour in London’s O2 Arena. The realistic part of this broadly talented man is that he was human…and taking away all judgment of his personal life…he was a perfectionist, sensitive and nurturing to all who worked with him and was near him professionally. From handpicking background dancers to spotlighting his musicians and singers in performances, Michael Jackson believes in a total production. He gives back to those that supply the priceless tools of support, investment and devotion – his fans.
Catch the breath-taking and emotional tribute to Michael Jackson’s extraordinary life and career in a film directed by Kenny Ortega, MJ’s creative partner and director of the tour’s stage show.

Google’s newest feature!
Monday, October 26th, 2009

Last Wednesday, Google was proud to announce their latest feature to the search engine…THE SOCIAL SEARCH! Of course this was exciting news (yes, we are tech nerds here) to us at Cashmere because social media searches are a big part of our jobs and will help us gauge the hard work we do for our clients. It is also, another great tool to utilize and enhance our marketing and PR abilities. According to Mashable.com, details are sparse, but here are some of the features the social search will include:
- The bottom of search results will soon have social networking information from your friends, like their Flickr photos or their status updates. It’s a blended search integration, similar to seeing news or image results.
- These are pulled from social networks connected to your Google Profile. The more that are connected, the more social information that will appear in search results.
- They have also improved searching for images using social networks. Images become more relevant using social networking data.
- It will launch in Google Labs in the next few weeks.
At Google, our goal is to create the most comprehensive, relevant and fast search in the world. In the past few years, an entirely new type of data has emerged — real-time updates like those on Twitter have appeared not only as a way for people to communicate their thoughts and feelings, but also as an interesting source of data about what is happening right now in regard to a particular topic.
Given this new type of information and its value to search, we are very excited to announce that we have reached an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results. We believe that our search results and user experience will greatly benefit from the inclusion of this up-to-the-minute data, and we look forward to having a product that showcases how tweets can make search better in the coming months. That way, the next time you search for something that can be aided by a real-time observation, say, snow conditions at your favorite ski resort, you’ll find tweets from other users who are there and sharing the latest and greatest information.

Can you be more active on social sites?!
Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Social networking is something that is hard to avoid in our day in age. From professional athletes to news anchors to rappers to your mom — we all partake in the new aged form of communication in some way or another. Making use of the latest form of communication, Italian designer Venia Giota has come up with a physical interface called “Synathrisis” that works as a device based on social networking for people who share the same interests and activities. The Synathrisis combines three parameters – people, time and space. When the user sets its preferences, by filling information through the three tokens (content filters), events come up. This feature gives the user the opportunity to always stay in touch with his preferred contacts. It’s hard to tell how efficient this interface would be, but we’re willing to give it a try! Check it out here : http://www.thedesignblog.org/entry/synathrisis-physical-interface-lets-you-be-more-active-on-social-sites/

Ode to the sneakerheads!
Monday, October 19th, 2009

“Hmmm…Sneakerheads.” Some people ask, “What does that even mean?” Well, most of us here at Cashmere are guilty of that title. We like to collect nice kicks…it’s almost considered art to us – aesthetically pleasing to the eye with all the different colors, styles and fabrics. Although the term “sneakerhead” has recently become the “cool” fashion statement, many of these sneaker fiends have been underground for quite sometime and it isn’t until now that they’ve gotten recognition.
According to a recent article by BrandWeek, “Sneakerheads” are looking to be the future of marketing! Since the downfall of print magazines, marketers for major shoe companies have been looking for the newest way to market their shoe. They have found that the niche group of “Sneakerheads” are the future. “We have seen the sneaker culture increase over the past several years to the point where, today, bloggers are integral partners in helping spread the word about coming products,” says Simon Atkins, director of Adidas’ Sports Style Division U.S. “We’re putting a lot of effort into this type of consumer, and we’re spending a lot of time on them.”

Nowadays, if you sell sneakers in the U.S., you have no choice but to form good relationships with a handful of bloggers who act as tastemakers for the category. And if you want to do that, you’ll have to go through Rich Antoniello. Antoniello is the publisher of Complex Media, which produces Complex magazine, but is also affiliated with five of the top blogs in the category — including NiceKicks.com (one of the most influential shoe blog/website on the internet!) — which together collect 2.2 million unique visitors and 22 million impressions per month, according to Google Analytics.
Now that this group of influential fashion tastemakers finally gets recognition, we’re excited to see how “sneakerheads” will shape fashion styles and the online marketing sphere – both areas which Cashmere is immersed in! For more on this Brandweek article, click (here)
Project P.U.M.A. Prototype
Friday, October 16th, 2009

When we see the word Puma around here, this team of sneakerheads normally think of the PUMA’s that go on your feet. But it seems the word is soon going to be taking on a new meaning. Let us introduce you to the latest P.U.M.A., which stands for Personal Urban Mobility & Accessibility. This personal transporter is similar to the well-known Segway, but seats 2 people and boasts a domed weatherproof roof. It’s also perfect for the eco-friendly driver — as it can go between 25 and 35 mph for distances between 25 and 35 miles on a single battery charge. We’re sold on the idea — no gas required, eco-friendly, and easy to maneuver in these LA streets!

The Wave of Entertainment’s Smartphone Apps
Thursday, October 15th, 2009

From the launch of Cashmere Interactive’s Snoop Dogg “iFizzle” iPhone App…we have seen a wave of smartphone apps coming from Hip-hop stars including T-Pain and his autotune. Now NBA’s Orlando Magic center, Dwight Howard has launched the latest apps among the celebrities.
Posting on his blog October 14th, Howard has announced with his infamous greeting “Hey World,” that his smartphone app is a few months away from completion while the design is being finalized. Getting the idea and interest of an app from fellow NBA baller, Chris Bosh, Howard hopes to have a hub of his social networks, stats, pictures and exclusive deals for his fans from his endorsement partners including EA Sports, Warner Bros/DC Comics and T-Mobile…all on the Dwight Howard smartphone app.
