#HappyBirthday2Pac (6/16/71 – 9/13/96)
Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
With #HappyBirthday2Pac trending on Twitter, the world has no choice but to take notice that today, June 16th, is being celebrated as an unofficial hip-hop holiday, honoring one of most reputable rap artists to ever touch a mic.
Tupac “Makavelli” Shakur met an untimely death on September 13, 1996, when he was gunned down on Las Vegas streets. Today, Pac’s music lives on, banging through speakers at gangsta parties, expressing love and appreciation for mama and embracing lifes changes.
Selling over 75 million albums in life and in death, we take a moment to remember Pac’s music by sharing a few videos from the YouTube Tupac library. Let’s journey thorough hip-hop history as we reflect on the life of one talented writer, actor, poet, activist and artist, who aimed to spark the mind that would one day change the world.
Tupac’s legacy, unmatched lyrical skills, passion and love for the game is appreciated!

UncategorizedEminem, Usher Kick Off E3 2010
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010
For one week in June, the world of video gaming dominates pop culture. Names like Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, along with a who’s who list of gaming ballers converge onto Los Angeles for one event: the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3.
Each year, the Los Angeles Convention Center is home to E3 where the gaming industry showcases new technology and new releases that holiday shoppers are going to be trying to cop. Microsoft kicked off E3 yesterday with a two hour press conference debuting the newly named, motion sensing gaming peripheral, Kinnect, their answer to Nintendo’s Wii. Sony and Nintendo will both be holding their press conference events today, which Cashmere is sure will send hardcore gamers worldwide into a frenzy.
But not to be outdone, the night belonged to Activision. The gaming giant behind the Guitar Hero and Call of Duty franchises, rented out the Staples Center –home to the defending NBA World Champion Los Angeles Lakers– last night to celebrate a handful of upcoming releases. Two of Cashmere’s own (Anthony and Kristen) were in attendance for all the musical festivites.
The arena was nearly full by 9:30 as the crowd was treated to back-to-back-to-back DJ sets featuring turntablists Z-Trip, DeadMau5, and David Guetta while R&B superstar Usher took the stage performing a few fully choreographed numbers. Jane’s Addiction, Soundgarden, and NERD took to the stage before the headliner, Eminem closed out the show performing his new song, “Not Afraid”.
E3 2010 is on-going at the Los Angeles Convention Center until Thursday. And be sure to click on the links below to check out some of last night’s performance.

Cashmere Movie Premiere: The Return of the Karate Kid
Thursday, June 10th, 2010
We all remember the original The Karate Kid film released back in 1984, starring Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita and Elisabeth Shue. Whether your favorite character was Mr. Miyagi, karate kid Daniel LaRusso or ruthless sensei John Kreese or another cast member, the film is legendary in our homes and hearts. The infamous quotes from the original film resonate discipline, inspiration and courage – attributes that move us in a positive direction in everyday life.
What’s your favorite Mr. Miyagi quote? Reverence the legacy and the man who, I would like to say, paved the way for Jackie Chan to play the similar role in the remake as Mr. Han. Submit your quote to the “KarateKidMovie” on Twitter.
The remake stars familiar faces and acclaimed actors such as Jackie Chan, Taraji P. Henson and 11 year-old Jaden Smith with his famous parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, producing the film.
The remake’s Mr. Han says, “Life will knock us down, but we can choose to get back up. Remember, ALWAYS STRONG!”
Be sure to check out the trailer below and the Karate Kid hits theaters tonight with a special MIDNIGHT showing!

Cashmere Tech: iPhone 4 is Here!!!
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010
By now, you’ve had to have heard all the hubbub surrounding Apple’s latest consumer electronic device, the iPhone 4. Cashmere’s got you covered with an overview of the new features Apple’s rolling out for its latest technological advancement.
Besides an iPhone complete redesign –sturdy glass display area, chrome colored side panel that doubles as antenna, dual camera lens– Apple added a number of long overdue features:
- Video Calling. With the iPhone 4′s new Facetime app, you can actually do video conferencing from your cell phone. However it’s on a Wi-Fi only feature.
- Mulitaksking. Long suffering iPhone owners will embrace this feature that let’s you run third-party apps –and switch between them instantly– without ending a current app, a slow down in performance, or draining the battery unnecessarily.
- HD Camera. Apple’s put two cameras on the phone –a new front one for the aforementioned video conferencing and a second one on the back with a LED Flash– bumped it up 5 megapixels, with 5X digital zoom and can now record HD video.
- Apple managed to make the battery life slightly larger for us power phone users. The new handset is rated at 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, and 40 hours of music.
The new iPhone will be available in white or black for $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB on June 24th. Sadly, for you non-converts, you can only get through AT&T.
