#NewMusicTuesday – Bangers by Snoop, Lil Mama, Knives and Gasoline, Rich & Fameus

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

It’s #NewMusicTuesday and Cashmere has the info on the new hotness.

Boss Dogg Snoop never stops throwing it down and is giving us two delectable treats for #NewMusicTuesdays and #PuffPuffPassTuesdays today. First, Snoop brings fire with the video for “Wonder What It Do,” featuring Uncle Chucc, a track off his current album Doggumentary. The video is an ode to LA lifestyle, as Snoop and Uncle Chucc throw a family style BBQ on a rooftop overlooking Downtown Los Angeles with the homies.

The second video is the “highly” (yes, pun intended!) in demand GGN: Double G News Network segment, featuring host Nemo Hoes, weather girl Stormy Fronts and anchor puppet Crazy Larry.  This week Nemo Hoes sits and talks with rapper David Banner as they discuss Samurais, music and more.

Indy-Rock-HipHop blend artists, Knives and Gasoline, will be releasing their full album, “Love Songs for Crime Scenes,” on iTunes and in selected stores this week. This album has a chill quality and is something anyone can bounce to in the car or at the beach. If you cannot wait to get your hands on it, you can order the physical CD on LA2theBay.com now!

Up next, Miami-based –identical twins, Rich & Fameus, premiered their video for “Fired Up” on MixTapeDownload. This track off their mixtape, “Ready to Take Off,” is a cool college party vibe that will leave a feeling of empowerment and an ability to take on your day. Oh, and the video is dope, too!

Last but not least, America’s rap princess, Lil’ Mama, is bringing the heat with her MC Lyte dedicated track “Scrawberry.” The track is a fresh “throw-back” joint sampling Special Ed‘s classic “I Got It Made”. Go see for yourself if you can stand still while listening to this track.

Could Tuesdays get any better? Fresh hotness is what we bring at Cashmere.

Where The Gamers At? This Weekend: Call Of Duty XP Fan Spectacular

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

This weekend, September 2 and 3, at the Santa Monica Hangar (5600 Campus Center Dr., Los Angeles, Calif., 90094), Dropkick Murphys and Kanye West are performing at Call of Duty XP, a first-ever Call of Duty Fan Experience.

This event promises to be sick! It features a $1 Million 32-person-last survivor-wins Call of Duty tournament. Goers will get to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 months before anyone else; and upon release, get a deluxe copy of MW3. What’s more, they get to rock out to Irish-Punk Band, Dropkick Murphys, who are opening the festival, and in his first public performance after the mega-success of “Watch the Throne,” Kanye is going to close the show. If that wasn’t enough there will be real-life paintball “frag-fest” tournaments that are inspired by levels from the game. You don’t have to be a hardcore gamer to enjoy this event. So when you are looking for something to do on your three day weekend check this out and tell them Cashmere sent you.

#WeekendRecap – The Cashmere Family’s Star-Studded Weekend

Monday, August 29th, 2011

With the BMI Urban Awards and the MTV VMA’s in town for the weekend, the Cashmere family had no problem keeping themselves busy and entertained.

Alice Han had a great time at the launch party for Skee TV 2.0 and Artist Aaron Axelrod’s pop up display of lasers and SWAT Team on Thursday night.

On Friday, the team attended the 11th Annual BMI Urban Awards at the prestigious Pantages Theater in Hollywood to support Snoop Dogg as he received the BMI Icon Award. Our PR Team worked the red carpet, while some of our other team members mingled and networked at the party and enjoyed performances from a myriad of hip hop legends that included Wiz Khalifa, Nas, Game, Dr. Dre, Daz, and Kurupt, to name a few.

Saturday night was reigned by two West Coast legends, as DJ Quik and Suga Free rocked the stage at Club Nokia for their almost sold-out show. Our very own James Koo was there to watch them (in his words), “simultaneously pimping from opposite ends of the stage.”

Suga Free and DJ Quik rockin’ the stage

N’neka Hite was able to make it to the JW Marriott on Sunday for the 2011 MTV VMA’s where she was able to speak to some celebrities such as Rick Ross and Ron Artest. She was also able to catch a glimpse of arguably the biggest news of the weekend: Beyonce’s baby bump.

Get More: 2011 VMA, Music, Beyoncé

Theresa Aufner attended Freestyle Session 14 on Sunday. Here’s how she described the event: “I was impressed by the dancers’ performances, but even more so, I was blown away by seeing two of my favorite producers, DJ Premier and Pete Rock, share a stage and spin a set together.”

Congrats to the winners of Freestyle Sessions, Jinjo Crew, and the runner-ups, Renegades Crew.

Our very own visual production extraordinaire Whoopi, had the privilege of doing the visual effects for DJ Jason Bentley (LA’s KCRW), who opened this weekend for world famous DJ/Producer Deadmau5 at the Palladium in Hollywood.  Whoopi describes his experience: “I was working with the production team that put together Daft Punk’s Alive tour, they were incredibly helpful and fun to work with.”

If you know Deadmau5, you know he has the craziest stage setups!

As you can see, it was yet another epic and successful weekend for Cashmere….and many more to come!

#FitFriday – The Men of Cashmere Hike Jefferson Stairs

Friday, August 26th, 2011

Not only women try to stay in shape. During the past few Mondays, the gentlemen of Cashmere Agency (and recently also Stampede‘s Power 106 legend Fuzzy Fantab) joined together to hike the Culver City stair ascension on Jefferson Boulevard to enjoy the view of Baldwin Hills’s Scenic Overlook.

Cashmere’s Anthony Kennedy describes his pleasure and pain during the experience:

“I went with the fellas (Seung, Ryan, Kelly, and Brandon) for the first Cashmere Jefferson stairs ascension on Monday, August 8th. I thought I would be the expert and show them the ropes, but everyone ended up beating ME to the top. Those first two rows of stairs are a workout, but felt good. The third row was killer as I had to stop a couple of times to catch my breath. The only thing that kept me going was Seung and Ryan at the top urging me on. That last row, ABSOLUTE MURDER. It never hurt so much to take a breath. Thanks to the  guys for encouraging me to keep going despite being on the verge of an exhaustive collapse. In the end, the view was all worth it.”

Cashmere and PRO-Keds at PROJECT in Las Vegas

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

This year, at the 2011 PROJECT fashion trade show in Las Vegas (August 22-24th), Cashmere was in the building!  Our very own Kristen Tambara was holdin’ it down for our wonderful client, PRO-Keds, who were showcasing their upcoming collaborations with Norse Projects of Norway and the Louisville Slugger Royal Hi, which was one of the highlights of the entire PROJECT show!

Alongside their unique collaborations, PRO-Keds was also showing their current collections including Fall ’11, Holiday ’11 and their upcoming Spring ’12 line. A few celebrities who were spotted at the PRO-Keds booth includes famed dance crew the Jabbawockeez, reality TV star and daughter of Rev Run, Angela Simmons, actor/comedian Carrot Top and fashion icon Jeff Staple.

“This was my first time attending PROJECT and it was a great experience! Not only was it a great platform to network, but it also gave me a chance to check out some of the upcoming trends that we will be seeing next spring.  One of my favorite brands that I discovered during the trade show is Kasil Workshop - a premium denim brand founded by David Lim in 2002. Kasil Workshop offers innovative silhouettes achieved through classic and authentic tailoring techniques using only the highest quality of American, Italian and Japanese denim.  Every signature garment is created by hand and features unique, defining characteristics. ”

For a quick one minute recap of PROJECT, check out Karmaloop’s video here (look out for PRO-Keds around :40 seconds).

It was a busy weekend for the Cashmere team.  First stop we hit was the “Perseverance” Show at the Known Gallery.  The show featured work from famous street artists Revok, Rime, and Roid.

Then, the Cashmere crew took the short trip from Hollywood to Downtown LA for the Mad Decent Block Party.  The event was filled with good food, drinks, and dope musical performances.  Mad Decent definitely knows how to throw a party!

GOOGLE BUYS MOTOROLA, HP PUTS WebOS ON HOLD

Google shook up the smartphone world this week by spending $12.5 billion to acquire Motorola, which further solidifies Google’s plan to enter the world of hardware.  In the smartphone industry, Google is known for its Android platform that is used by different phone manufacturers including HTC, Samsung, and LG.  Now with the pick up of Motorola, these other Android users are a little worried that Google will be creating an upgraded Android platform that will only work on their Motorola phones.  On the other hand, Apple isn’t too worried because they just got a confidence boost this week in the tablet game.  HP, makers of the TouchPad tablet, have discontinued production of the device, and put their operating system on hold.  WedOS, which they planned to use for many different devices, is currently on hold and HP says they are not sure what to do with it yet.

40% OF YOUTUBE USERS WATCH MUSIC VIDEOS

YouTube has recently reached out to metrics company comScore to report data on their partner channels.  They released some early info to Ad Age about the videos being watched.  With Vevo and Warner Music holding a big percentage of the views, they reported that 40% of users watch music videos while on the site.  38% watch videos on Vevo, and 20% watch Warner Music videos.  This also does not include music videos with fans dancing in their rooms or playing live shows, which makes the amount of music being watched an even more integral part of our YouTube experience.

BING LAUNCHES “WE”RE IN” APP TO PLAN EVENTS AND SHARE LOCATIONS

The search engine giant Bing has created an easier way to organize groups and build hangouts.  Unlike Foursquare, the goal isn’t to broadcast your location to the world, but more to reach out to friends about specific events and locations.  With more of a social network aspect to it, critics are calling “We’re In” the other half of Foursquare.  Users can create events with full details, and then invite friends via their contact info.  Friends will get a text with invite, and then be able to respond with their availability.  The app is currently exclusive for Windows Phone users.
