Friday, December 23rd, 2011

Soaring West Coast artists Kendrick Lamar (who helped launch the adidas Originals 2011 boot collection), Dom Kennedy, YG and Casey Veggies shut down Los Angeles for the adidas Original & MMXLII present RESPECT THE WEST showcase last Thursday. Cashmere teamed up with Stampede Management to host a full night of great West Coast Hip Hop with great West Coast vibes.  Hosted in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, RESPECT THE WEST catered a unique, live-music experience to over 400 industry tastemakers and influencers, which coincided with the famed sneaker convention, Sneaker Con.

Along with exciting performances from all four rising artists and a DJ set by DJ Drewbyrd, RESPECT THE WEST was complete with an open bar, delicious food trucks, fun photo booths and of course amazing adidas Original giveaways.

Back with another edition of what we loved this week on the net!

“The Cashmere x Stampede crew rockin out at the adidas Originals ‘Respect The West’ party last night”

“A funky jam to get the holiday celebrations started!”

“Some amazing editing skills recognizing that its Tebow Time!”

HYPEBEAST Article

“Common has come up with an interesting way to fight rampant album leaks online. By giving his fans the opportunity to preview the album on the highly trafficked viral video platform YouTube, Common is giving the early adopting fanatics something to munch on until album release.”

“This blog is just as funny as Texts from Bennett!”

“This is more fascinating than a favorite, but out of all the videos I saw this week, this one caught my attention the most.  Crazy to think that there are laws that make obesity illegal!”

“Shout out to adidas and DQM for the ill Rod Laver collabos…”

“My fave for the week is this MAC app F.Lux. It’s used to reduce eye strain by dimming the brightness of your screen. I’ve been using it for about a week and have noticed at the end of the work day I’m not getting the headaches I had been getting from looking at my screen all day. Check it out.”

Dirty Bass Museum w/ Far East Movement

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

The Cashmere/Stampede crew had a busy night last night, with our clients having two big shows in LA at the same time.   The first we covered was the “Dirty Bass Museum” with Far East Movement, sponsored by DUB Magazine and Remy Martin.  The boys were celebrating the holidays, the completion of their next album, and the success of their new hit single “Jello”.   Lots of familiar faces roamed the Roark Industries building in downtown LA, and it was great to celebrate with everyone.  With special guest DJ Quik hitting the tables first, the stage was set for a surprise performance by the group themselves, Far East Movement.

#NewTech: New York Times’ Presents the Election 2012 iPhone App

Monday, December 12th, 2011

Straight from our client over at 99Problems.org, they’re keeping the nation abreast of all things election-worthy. And of course, New York Times’ 2012 Election app tops their list.

“In the midst of all this fast talking coming from the President and President hopefuls, you might get lost and even turned off. If you’re like me, you might tune out the tv and then tune back in like WTF is going on. Don’t even trip, for the most relevant coverage of the 2012 Presidential race, we’ve got ya covered. The only catch is, you’ve got to have an iPhone. Yea, I know. I don’t have one either but if we’re lucky, #TeamAndroid & #TeamBlackberry will join in with the #AppleGang.”

Cashmere #WeekendRecap

Monday, December 12th, 2011

“If you like vodka, you should try the Silo Vodka freezer bar!”

-Annie, @ShenANNIEgans

“This weekend, my retired neighbor, who plays in a blues band, hooked me up with an Fender Guitar and amp. Thanks to hours of playing Rock Band and my affinity for Prince’s music, I’ve been wanting to learn how to play for a while. When I knocked on his door to ask for his advice on a guitar purchase and if he could provide some lessons, he let me borrow the equipment to get the feel of it before I make my purchase. He’s already taught me to play my first song and Cashmere staff will be disappointed to learn it’s not a Prince song, but instead Nirvana’s classic track, “Come As You Are.”

-Anthony, @antpooh

“Started the weekend with our Holiday party, then Saturday I ran around the city for a number of events. Two notable ones were the opening of the New Era LA Flagship store on Melrose. I made it in time for the Surf Club performance that included Chase N. Ca$he, Kent M$ney and Audio Push. Hit-Boy was also there to support. The store is laid out nice and sits in a prime location for people looking to shop in various lanes of fashion.”

“After that I ran over to the opening of COLORS in Downtown. Thurzday has a hand in this new store that is directly next to Holy Grail. The hats and clothing here will definitely complement all the shoes you can buy out of Holy Grail. Young Guru (Jay-Z’s engineer) was on hand to DJ along with producer Ro Blvd. The place was packed with fashion folks, tastemakers and some of California’s hip-hop scene. The layout of the store (every colored hat from the high ceiling to the floor) and the color changing sign complemented the name of the store perfectly. I didn’t “Watch the Throne” last night but I might extend that weekend fun to tonight.”

-Brandon, @Eazee

“This weekend I went to Rockreation and rock climbed for the first time without a harness. At night I got together with some Cashmere and Stampede peeps at the new vodka bar in DTLA called SILO for @rodnotrob’s 30th birthday party.”

-Kristen, @tambybear

“Spent all of Sunday having a nice picnic with my friends and Puppy. We went to a new restaurant, Milo and Olive (Delicious- I highly recommend it to everyone) and picked up food for the picnic.”

-Hila, @Hilala11

“I got to DJ for my friend’s birthday party at Proof Bar in Orange County.  It was good times seeing lots of old friends again.”

-Kyle, @KyleDineen

“This weekend, I took my first ever trip to San Diego County’s Viejas Outlet Center to do some holiday shopping, and boy did I come up! From some great deals from my favorite outlet stores paired with an awesome scenery composed of a soaring decorative Christmas tree, beautiful mountains and the largest ice skating rink in SoCal. I was in for a good time.”

-Misty, @LuvlyIzMe

“At church, I’m in charge of the media department, who’s responsible for the video capture and social media updates. Greater Metropolitan MBC starts at 9am every Sunday. Check us out!”

-Shakes, @DJWillieShakes

“Sunday, I hit up the Staples Center to see Jay Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne Tour. I’ve been to a lot of shows throughout the years, but they certainly had the most sensory overload. Especially, sitting in the 7th row! Here’s some clips from the night courtesy of my iPhone.”

#FavoritesFriday – Music Edition

Friday, December 9th, 2011

50 Cent released his new mixtape “The Big 10″ today for free DOWNLOAD.  Ever since he released his first mixtape 10 years ago, he has become one of the biggest stars in the Hip Hop industry around the world.  Congrats on another dope compilation!

“I have long been a fan of the wild and crazy antics of the WuTang Clan. I had purchased the vinyl for OB4CL when it first came out in 1995 and it was a hip hop dream come true when we were introduced to The Chef and asked to work with him and his team to work on the release of OB4CL PT. II in 2009.”

2 years later, OB4CL PT. II is the most critically acclaimed release of 2009 and Raekwon has become a staple on nearly every hip-hop blog! It was a nice surprise to receive this in the mail from @Raekwon in the mail yesterday to add to my collection!
