The 69th Annual Primetime Emmys was an awards show to be celebrated – not only for the artists that won but for the communities they belong to, as well.

Standout moments from the night included Donald Glover taking home two big wins for FX’s Atlanta – Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series, as well as Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Glover is the first Af-Am to win an Emmy for Directing a Comedy Series 🙌🏽

Lena Waithe also won big for the LGBTQIA community with her award for Outstanding Writing on a Comedy Series, for her work on Aziz Ansari’s Master of None. She shouted out how amazing it was for “a little Indian boy from South Carolina, and a queer black girl from the heart of Chicago” to be standing on the Emmy stage, let alone taking home the trophy.

The night’s highlights also included Nicole Kidman’s acceptance speech for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series. Kidman spoke to her role in HBO’s Big Little Lies, and how she was able to shed light on the issue of domestic violence. Kidman and Reese Witherspoon made a point of discussing the significance of supporting projects starring and made by women.

Sterling K. Brown took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Veep took home their 6th consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series 😮

Congratulations to all of the night’s #Emmy winners, and can’t wait to see what next year has in store!
