Critically-acclaimed chef and Cashmere friend and collaborator Roy Choi continues his mission to bring under-served inner-city communities affordable meals with fresh and “real” ingredients. This time, Choi and partner chef Daniel Patterson’s Locol food movement hits Oakland with the Locol Bakery, opening this Friday, March 31st.
“Been waiting a long time to see the lights on at night. So beautiful,” Patterson tweeted about the West Oakland bakery. “Thanks to the community for coming out. We’ll be back tomorrow am!”
Choi and Patterson have already opened two Locol fast food joints: one in the Watts community of Los Angeles back in 2016 and another in Oakland on Broadway last May. The Locol Bakery will open in west Oakland
They stated their mission as bring “fast food with real ingredients” to communities that are notoriously dotted with unhealthy fast food options.
The Locol Bakery is located at 3446 Market St. in a former barbecue/deli. The bakery will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a grand opening party at 3 p.m. March 31.
