This past weekend, Cashmere Agency was present at Comic Con in San Diego for its #WeAreAllHeroes panel. Although Comic Con is known for the quirky costumes, exciting trailer launches, and unique exhibition booths, our team sought to explore more serious topics such as diversity within entertainment and the need for better representation in film, television, and comics.
Cashmere Agency’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Ryan Ford, moderated the successful panel, which featured notable entertainment personalities including Murs (Rapper), Gina Prince-Bythwood (Director), Malcolm Barrett (Timeless), Sal Masekela (Media Personality), and Lewis Tan (Actor). The panel touched upon the diverse and changing world of comics, geekdom and fanboy culture, prompting questions from audience members on the obstacles that minorities and women so often face within the entertainment and comics spheres.
The audience, which included The Boondocks created Aaron McGruder, reacted very enthusiastically to the panel. Once the panel was wrapped, our team enjoyed getting our geek on and immersing ourselves in all that Comic Con has to offer – including checking out the most outrageous costumes that we could find.
Cashmere Agency is grateful for the opportunity to participate in Comic Con each year and shed light on the topics we are most passionate about. Until next year San Diego!
