Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Apple is set to release their newest OS, named Mountain Lion.  It ditches iChat for what iPhone users have become familiar with, iMessage.  The new OS also allows sharing via Vimeo, Flickr and a full Twitter integration among other new features.  The newest OS is closer to how the iOS works now.  It looks like the two operating systems are getting closer and closer.  To get your in-depth look make sure to go to Apple right now.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA JOINS INSTAGRAM

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

We’ve seen Barack Obama embrace social media before in an effort to reach more people and engage young voters in his first presidential campaign run.  The Obama 2012 campaign has now embraced Instagram as a part of their hip digital tools.  Instagram has been named Apple’s App of the Year.  iPhone users have gone crazy with the app where you are able to add vintage inspired filters and frames to your photos and share with “followers” (who can like and comment on your photos).  The Obama 2012 campaign has already been posting photos to Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Tumblr.  Are you following Barack Obama‘s Instagram…?

Welcome back to Cashmere #FavoritesFriday! Each Friday you get a look into what’s currently a favorite amongst the Cashmere team.

“Tribute Video to Steve Jobs, “Steve’s Apple,” I know this is old news but i like this” -@alice_han

We see that Publicist, Alison Kwee, has gotten into the Halloween spirit early this year:

“These guys made my week:)” -@alleykat1110

The self-appointed “television historian,” Anthony Kennedy, brought this gem to our attention this week:

“Easily the best comedy on television today, Community. The third year show is so ahead of the game and blows away anything else on television (I’m looking at you Modern Family and 30 Rock). They’ve already produced classic episodes involving a school-wide game of paintball, a hilariously funny episode involving dungeons and dragons, and last week’s brilliant episode that showed the outcomes from SIX DIFFERENT realities that were created from simply rolling a dice. AWESOME!!!” -@antpooh

Brandon Banks had a new video for us to take a look at:

“Video from my homie from Compton.  Seung and Ted know this guy.  This may be the craziest video I’ve seen in a minute hip-hop wise.  Not sure what any artist like this could work for, but these are the types of videos that get random attention for upcoming artists (think Tyler & Odd Future, etc)” -@eazee

In the meantime, our Senior Publicist Kristen Tambara, found this “adorable baby dressed up for Halloween as Tom Hank’s volleyball friend, “Wilson,” from Cast Away.” -@tambybear

And last, from Ryan Ford:

“When people are posting items on Facebook they usually only think of a handful of people that will look at their page. But with hundreds of friends and millions of their friends online, you never really know who is watching you…and maybe even stalking you. Watch your virtual back!!” -@fordryan

Check back every Friday to find out about our favorite staff stuff of the week!

APPLE BREAKS iPHONE SALES RECORD, BUT GETS SLAMMED WITH iOS 5 UPDATES

Apple announced their new iPhone 4S recently, disappointing some people that it wasn’t the reported iPhone 5.  This apparently made no difference in sales, as they broke the iPhone sales record, with over one million units sold in the first 24 hours.  Today Apple released its new operating system upgrade for iPhones and iPads.  With many new features, including the iCloud, it seems as if an unusually large number of people tried to upgrade at the same time.  Apple reports that it could only handle about half of those at one time, so many users reported having errors in trying to download the upgrade.  Error 3200 as it was called, came back as Apple’s servers could not authorize everyone at once.  This occurred only during peak time and has since been corrected.  Seems as if not releasing the iPhone 5 didn’t hurt Apple as much as some predicted.

BLACKBERRY OUTAGE HITS THE U.S.

It started with email delays in Europe, followed by complete inaccessibility to other functions, including the internet.  It then spread to Canada, and eventually on to the U.S., where users started complaining about delays in emails and slow internet connection today.  RIM (research in motion), maker of Blackberry, announced today that they have figured out some of the causes of the outage, but haven’t released all of the details.  RIM reduced their service coverage while it tries to clean up the email backup and fix the problems.  The Canada based company is working around the clock to restore service to those in Europe who lost it, and its affects have been felt all around the world.  Is this the start of the end for Blackberry?
