Diane Farr Releases “Kissing Outside The Lines”

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Love, family, and prejudice, issues all tackled head-on in Kissing Outside the Lines the new book released today from actress and author Diane Farr.

At turns introspective and outrageous, Kissing Outside the Lines is Farr’s look at the complexities of interracial/ethnic/religious/what-have-you love, told through the lens of her own experience of dating, marrying, and creating a family with someone from a race and culture different from her own. Additionally, she exposes the many ways in which prejudice rears its ugly head— subtly and overtly—when you dare to love “outside the lines.” She even shares the stories of other multiracial couples from different corners of the U.S. who have made similar leaps. Kissing Outside the Lines is available in bookstores and on Amazon.

In case you missed,  Farr took to the airwaves yesterday morning, making an appearance on KTLA Today to discuss her book and interracial marriage. Watch Diane’s segment on KTLA Today below. And stay connected with her online on Facebook and Twitter.

Cashmere Book Spotlight: Jay-Z: Decoded

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

On Tuesday, November 18th, Jay-Z released his first book, Decoded, which gives readers a peek into the life one of hip-hop’s greatest lyricists. The book covers a wide range of topics, from his childhood in the Marcey projects, drug dealing, his influences, politics, race, and what it takes to be successful. Decoded also analyzes the lyrics of several of his hit songs, providing readers with explanations for the metaphors and an understanding HOVA’s ideology that we’ve never had before.

On his book tour, Jay-Z stopped by The Howard Stern Show and The Daily Show to discuss not only his book but other questions as well including, if he and Beyonce are expecting, his discovery of Rihanna, and thoughts on Kanye West.

As part of the Decoded promotional efforts, Jay-Z partnered with Bing to create a scavenger hunt that hid the pages of his book in 200 locations that played an important part in his life. The first person to “decode” Jay-Z wins a lifetime pass to every single Jay-Z show for the rest of their life.

You can pick up your copy of Decoded over at Amazon. And check out his interveiw with Howard Stern and his appearance on The Daily Show below.
