#FAVORITESFRIDAY [1.20.2012]

Friday, January 20th, 2012

Here are the team’s picks of the week.  A few videos, some entrees and more awesome tidbits.

We all know Snoop Dogg is a very influential person, but to see a brand/influencer/film fan such as Snoop support a powerful and historical film like Red Tails is phenomenal. Really enjoyed interviewing him for the event recap. ” -Misty, @LuvlyIzMe

Cindy Yen took home Beijing Pop Music Awards for “Best Stylistic Breakthrough Artist” and “Best Single” for “Trap”, a joint I co-wrote and co-produced last year. The video is here. And yes, we’re both from h-town. – James, @jameskoo

This video makes me I wish I grew up in the 2010′s. Studying would have been so much more fun and engaging. This almost makes me want to go back to school just so I can use this. Can’t help but to be hopeful and excited for future generations growing up though. – Tim, @itisTimbo

“Big game this weekend, and this song is a good way to get pumped!” – Kyle, @kyledineen

Shout out to the Boston Market marketing crew for the $3.00 discount coupon! – Kelly, @kwoocash

Billboard’s #1 Latin Song since its release,”Promise” by Anthony “Romeo” Santos feat. Usher. I love this song because it brings together 2 of my favorite genres: Bachata & R&B. Not to mention I love bachata dancing! Maybe I can get the Cashmere team into latin dancing…hmm. – Selene, @Ms_Sele

Rip Curl has again created a technological world-first by capturing full-tilt surfing action using a “30 camera Array” — a line of cameras firing consistently as surfers ride towards and past it. The results are unique “frozen moments of time” – that can be viewed in a combination of angles for a true in the round perspective.  Rip Curl and TimeSlice, partners in the overall development, used GoPro HD video cameras to freeze an infinite number of moments that could be viewed. – Kristen, @TambyBear

One of my favorite dishes? Ramen. Yum (: – Chary, @viaCHARY

Favorite Friday exotic food.. Korean Duck – Joseph, @Jo_AktiveNLA

I had lunch with Joseph at Sun Han Jang and enjoyed sharing a cultural moment with him. – Alice, @alice_han

This is one of my favorite songs from Schoolboy Q‘s new album #HnC (Habits n Contradictions) and then this morning the video dropped.  I think it captures the mood of the song perfectly.  Also Schoolboy & ASAP Rocky’s chemistry works so well for them to be from opposite coasts. – Brandon, @Eazee

The Star Wars dog chorus.  Discovered this commercial last night and can’t stop re-watching and laughing. Just hoping I beat Ryan to this. You’re welcome. – Anthony, @antpooh

Me and Nip have at least one thing in common. We both went to Asia for the first time. Me to Korea and him to Japan. This video shows that he did a flyer job of documenting his trip. Of course I didn’t have original music available for mine. - Ryan, @fordryan

Favorite video of the week.  It’s amazing how the trainers were able to train this wild animal to do the cabbage patch.  Definitely helping me get through this busy day. – Aron, @womenbeshopping

#FAVORITESFRIDAY – CASHMERE’S PICKS OF THE WEEK

Friday, January 13th, 2012

“This week has been filled with excitement over the recently release Coachella lineup, including the tickets selling out today!” – Kyle, @kyledineen

“Now playing: Red Café’s “Hell’s Kitchen” mixtape. Check it out here” – Annie, @shenANNIEgans + Alice, @alice_han

17 Countries. 343 Days. 6237 Photographs. One incredible journey… - Kristen, @TambyBear

Sometimes lifehacker has some good recommendations. This simple iPhone game with 1 MILLION levels has become my time waster addiction. And it only cost me 99 cents. – Anthony, @antpooh

My #FAVORITEFRIDAYS this week is how awesome our new office looks! The Mr. Brainwash posters and the soon-to-come chalk board wall really bring life into the space! Too fun! – Mimi, @MimiJakes

It should be obvious that a really clever online marketing campaign gets our blood pumping at Cashmere. And the minds behind this coming summer’s surefire blockbuster Dark Knight Rises But of course the super secret video made its way to the net in a low quality audience captured format. Put no matter the quality, you fanboys will still love it. Find out how the best was to peep the video here:

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/268924/20111217/dark-knight-rises-prologue-3-places-watch.htm – Ryan, @fordryan

Among all of the “Sh*t ___ says”, this one has got to be my favorite.  I really miss my dialup… – Grace, @gracesharkpark

One of my favorite things of this world: a simple red rose. Because I am a hopeless romantic. – Selene, @Ms_Sele

Paradise Pier is my favorite place when I’m at Disneyland California Adventure. Best rides are there like California Screaming and Silly Symphony Swings! Woo! – Chary, @viaCHARY

I missed out on the Cheetah editions that dropped Christmas Day…so with the Valentine’s Day drop of the Sharks, I’m hoping for redemption.  It’s not just this colorway and limited quantity that makes this a favorite but it’s the branding and packaging for the special editions.  Each of the special edition releases are based off of a quick-striking predator (cheetah, shark, wolf, etc).  The posters use the shoe images along with predator images to create the visuals.  Best thing I’ve seen all week.  These are just a few examples of what has been hitting the web all week. – Brandon, @Eazee

I love this new Mary J. Blige song from The Help.  Can’t wait to see her win a Golden Globe Sunday! – Hila, @Hilala11

The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent in an unprecedented way, with unlimited opportunities.

But does democratized culture mean better art or is true talent instead drowned out? This is the question addressed by PressPausePlay, a documentary film containing interviews with some of the world’s most influential creators of the digital era. presspauseplay.com @presspauseplay Facebook: on.fb.me/y4gEK1

If you like the film you can support us by rating it on IMDB – imdb.to/jUqhFn. Thanks! – Kosta, @KostaElchev

Here is my favorite of the week. Love the beat ….. – Brianne, @QueenB1979

I just purchased the “Director’s Series” compilation DVD box set that features some of the ’90s most visionary music video directors.  Michele Gondry, Spike Jonze, Mark Romanek, and Chris Cunningham’s work are featured in this set that showcases four visual iconoclasts who broke down barriers and lifted the music video into an art form.  I wanted to showcase Chris Cunningham‘s work in particular.  His videos themes always dealt with realities slightly altered to fit into a dark, twisted uber-reality that pushed the envelope in the latest digital technology to leave you feeling uncomfortable and transfixed all at the same time.  He directed videos from such varied artists from Madonna and Aphex Twin, to Bjork and Portishead.  I promise you have not seen anything like this. – Aron, @womenbeshoppen1

Just listen… (Propain – #DEPARTURE) – James, @jameskoo

Really cool to see how fashion and beauty is threaded into politics especially in Obama’s Runway to Win fashion fundraising campaign. Designers including Tracey Reese, Marc Jacobs, Rachel Roy, Jason Wu, the new mother and grandmother duo, Beyonce and Tina Knowles barackobama.com February 7th.

CASHMERE #WEEKENDRECAP [1.6.12]

Monday, January 9th, 2012

The Cashmere Crew was all over the city this weekend and took advantage of plenty eats, great scenery and art.  Take a look for yourself.

Made a trip down to Ikea in Costa Mesa to pick up some desks for the office and remembered that my parents told me about a cool place to grub in Irvine. The illest thing was the bakery. They had a line and someone regulatin’ at the door like it was the hottest club in Hollywood! – Kelly, @Kwoocash

It was an eventful weekend with great company! Had a couple first timers  like hole-in-the wall restaurants in Rowland and Fountain Valley. Rode the ferris wheel in Irvine Spectrum! Beautiful lights, but extremely cold! – Chary, @viaCHARY

On Sunday, I met with my friends at a cafe in Koreatown and had sweet potato lattes and condensed milk toast! It was SO GOOD! – Grace, @gracesharkpark [you have to read below to hear about her Saturday night]

Starting a new tradition for 2012…Every first Saturday of the month, Annie, Grace and I will have an international themed dinner, “Mixed Bites”, that focuses on different cultural foods and tastes.  Kicking off the new year, I hosted our first dinner with an Italian menu, complete with Capellini pasta, oven roasted butternut squash and broccoli and Pinot Noir to wash it all down. – Kristen, @TambyBear

Finished up the weekend with Mr Brainwash’s show.  Still debating if I like him or not, but I definitely enjoyed Seventh Letter Crews contribution on the show. – Alice, @alice_han

I went hiking with some old friends to the top of Ortega Falls in south Orange County.  It ended up being perfect weather for some great photos! – Kyle, @kyledineen

Chilled with my parents…went to the Nipsey & Skeme show in Hermosa Beach! – Joseph, @Jo_AktiveNLA

Music. Urth Caffe’s Green Tea Matcha. Paru’s Punjab Glory. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. – Rona, @ronamercado

Spent the weekend monitoring the MyStyleQuickTip Twitter account as it approaches 1 Million followers. Are you following yet? If not, click the Follow button and then RT a #WorthAMillion – Misty, @LuvlyIzMe

This weekend I landed at a house party on the beach in Malibu and was blown away by some amazing art! – Hip Hop meets the Renaissance. – Mimi, @mimijakes

This weekend, I got my workout on Saturday morning with my moms at the Baldwin Hills Jefferson Stairs. Was proud that at 60, she made it to the top for the first time! – Anthony, @antpooh

It was my second time at Picca on Saturday and I loved it even more than the first time. This restaurant is worth a try! – Hila, @Hilala11

This weekend was all about hanging out with friends and being low key. I went bowling and got 1 strike and 2 spares! I also went down to Venice Beach and people watched the day away …. – Brianne, @QueenB1979

This weekend I was suckered into watching “The Devil Inside” which was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad movie. Don’t waste your money on nonsense. – Selene, @ms_sele

Drove by Staples Center Saturday night and was reminded of how blessed I was to be living in such a beautiful city. – Tim, @itisTimbo

I made smores yo! I ate mine before i could take any photos. – Jasmin, @jasminn

Los Angeles is such an incredible city that envelopes every aspect a vibrant city of such magnitude could possess, from the exciting nightlife to a budding art and food scene.  LA is definitely a cultural powerhouse with a never-ending plethora of events and places to check out.  However, for those with absolutely no money to go anywhere like myself, I made a reservation at my favorite local spot named “Cafe A-Ron,” aka “The Chocolate Bar”.  Located in the bustling area known as my living room, this favorite little dive offers everything from cable TV, moderately priced drinks, and a food menu that boasts three types of Hot Pockets.  The service can be considered lacking at best, but with such competitive prices and lively entertainment and company, you should definitely give Cafe A-Ron a chance.  If anything you can be all trendy and tell all your friends you knew about it first, before it got all commercial and sold out. – Aron, @womenbeshoppen1

My weekend was degrading. In a funny way though. I hung out with the famous comic out of Australia (even though he lives here) Eddie Ifft. He decided to take a video of me before we went surfing and put it on his podcasts’ youtube page. It’s one of the top podcasts in the world and now I’m famous for being out of shape. Take a look

I did plenty of eating this weekend.  Friday evening I convinced a friend to cook chicken enchiladas for my Stampede compadres (Teff, KiKi & Meko).  They helped convince as well.  Saturday I ran a few errands but found time to stop by Bayou Grill (which I used to frequent when we were in our old office) to pick up some jambalaya and gumbo.  Sunday I was working but took a break to check out Oo-Kook in Koreatown with some good friends and my younger brother.  All you can eat Korean BBQ and what seemed like bottomless bottles of Soju.  All in all a good weekend with food, family and friends. – Brandon, @Eazee

I started the weekend by taking my friends out to Roscoes. It was their first time there.  We also got our cars washed…I introduced them to Tender Greens in Culver City as well.  We ended the weekend by playing with their new cat. – Ashten, @whoopthis
