It’s Common Cens(us)

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

2010 marks the return of the U.S. Census. What is the Census you ask? Why should I care? How does it affect me and my family? These are valid questions that many Americans are asking. Well non-profit organization, 99Problems.org is answering all those questions for you and spreading the critical message about the Census…but in a cool way so you understand exactly what this means for communities nationwide.

Using the theme “Numbers Don’t Lie” as a backdrop, 99Problems.org is bringing familiarity to hip-hop lovers and minority communities. It’s also going about effectively explaining why an accurate count of the U.S. population is essential in determining the location of hospitals and fire stations in your community, along with schools, safe construction, and most important, the numbers of seats your state occupies in the House of Representatives. As 99Problems.org states, “Filling out the Census form is a free and easy way to fight for the resources and respect our community deserves. It’s up to each of us to make sure our community counts. Be smart. Take the Pledge!”

Filling out the Census form takes a mere 10 minutes to do, but will affect the livelihoods of not just yourself, but every other American, despite cultural, racial or political background. Click on the banner below to take 99Problems.org’s Pledge to Participate in the 2010 Census and you’ll receive a free download of  the Numbers Don’t Lie mixtape hosted by DJ Willie Shakes. The Boondocks are coming, the Boondocks are coming

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Hip-Hop & Soap Operas

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Hip-Hop and Soap Operas, we know, run in two different worlds. However, is it frowned upon for a music artist, specifically in the Hip-Hop industry, to delve into all things entertainment? Well, one such individual seems to reap success in all his entertainment endeavors despite what people think.

Yes, the homie, Big Snoopy D-O, scores again! From Martha Stewart and the Stock Exchange to making guest appearances on daytime soap One Life to Live,  the 36 year-old rapper alludes to the statement “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

One Life to Live has been a renowned staple of daytime television for over 40 years, with the character Bo, played by actor Robert S. Woods, being a favorite Snoop’s. Tomorrow, Snoop will make his second appearance on the show, once again playing himself (or a close of enough version) and perform his hit single, “I Wanna Rock”, from his recently released album, Malice N Wonderland.

Check out Snoop Dogg on One Life to Live tomorrow and click on the picture below to watch Snoop’s previous guest spot on the soap opera.

Snoop Knows the Power of the Dark Side!

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far… Oh wait, hold up! Actually, it wasn’t that long ago and it happened in place that wasn’t particularly far away. By now you’ve seen the video of Snoop Dogg and Sith Lord Darth Vader leading an army of Stormtroopers through the streets of New York to promote the new line of Adidas Star Wars Collection apparel and sneakers. But Cashmere was able to get a hold of exclusive footage of all the behind-the-scenes happenings during Snoop’s imperial march through the Big Apple.

Was all peaceful at the end of the day? Did Yoda come through and cop a pair of Luke Skywalker Top Tens? Did Chewbacca ever get a haircut? Check out the video below and, oh yeah, “May the Force be with you.”
