Friday, January 27th, 2012
Tomorrow, Saturday Jan 28th, DpSound/Bridges Crew celebrates it’s 9th Year Anniversary. BRIDGES (THE RETURN / A NEW YEAR of RE~BUILDING BRIDGES), an LA favorite, returns to the place where it all began…Barbarella (Formerly known as Zen Sushi) with very special guest DJ Dr. Greenthumb (aka B-Real of Cypress Hill), Azul 213, Mr. Ervin Arana (Root Down System), Rotating Residents: Adrian Younge, Jayski, Strife, Suckpunch, Mark Luv, Phers1, Rareform, Trek Life, Mza, Joelskee, Jay-P, Kupa, EM-1.
What is BRIDGES?
9 years and still smokin’ ,’ the Los Angeles groove-fest known as BRIDGES continues to bridge the gap between house lovers and hip hop lovers throughout Los Angeles. BRIDGES has been a part of the L.A. nightlife with its notable DJ lineups, inclusive vibe and creative approach to partying. It goes without saying that you’’ll never encounter attitude, velvet ropes or the same old commercial music heard at other hip-hop clubs at this long-running fave, which is surely why it’s lasted so long. What began as a sweaty underground gathering has, in fact, evolved into a mega-cool multifaceted multicultural celebration of music and art, live sounds, painting and percussion, and consistently stellar DJ guests. On their 9th year anniversary, they return to the location where it all began, Barbarella (formerly known as Zen Sushi)

Friday, January 27th, 2012

This past Tuesday as you know President Barack Obama had his State of the Union speech. Before their viewing party The League of Young Voters Education Fund (LYVEF) in partnership with AllHipHop.com and Rock the Vote had an interactive panel to engage young voters. It was shown live on UStream and allowed young voters to see people like Dee-1, RhymeFest, Chuck Creekmur, Janee Bolden, Andreas Hale, Shaheem Reid, Michale Skolnik and more. Viewers were able to join in by tweeting questions with #BarackTalk. It was a great online turnout with over 32,000 viewers and the venue itself in D.C. reaching capacity with people standing outside trying to be a part of this event. Congrats to all involved that helped make this such a great success. Make sure to watch the recap video below.

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend the Cashmere crew was a bit of everywhere…catching up with old friends and family, trying new foods and even taking in a number of events. Some lived a bit more star studded than others but overall the team took time to experience life as well as reflect on the importance of why we have this holiday every year. Click the link below to check out our highlights.
EVENT RECAP: THE GENERAL STORE POP-UP in DTLA
Friday, January 13th, 2012

Last night a few of the Cashmere team members (Rona, Brandon & Jasmin) went downtown to check out The General Store Pop-Up with featured art from Edition One Hundred, Augustine KOFIE and Miles Regis. Edition One Hundred was responsible for some great photographs and KOFIE had some interesting illustrations. Miles Regis had an array of artworks using different painting techniques and also had iPad and laptop skins available with his work on it. We were there to see the video installation from the Forecast TV, a project from our fashion forward friend Teron Stevenson. The Forecast TV is a fashion based outlet focused on being ahead of the fashion curves and “forecasting” the next trends. More photos are inside the post.

Entertainment, Events, Movies, Social Media, Technology, Television, social networkThe Boring pt. 2 aka The BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

So for the BCS National Championship game we had a rematch of (1) LSU vs (2) Alabama. On November 5th the two teams played and Alabama lost to LSU in overtime 9-6. A pretty BORING game. With a national championship on the line between the 1 and 2 teams, coupled by the fact that one team is seeking revenge and the other team wants to prove their dominance you would think the rematch would be more exciting…WRONG. Not only were the ratings down from the last time they faced each other, but LSU didn’t show up. A total of 91 yards from them and they were shutout 21-0. Alabama got their revenge and just outplayed LSU. Congrats to Alabama, and since LSU didn’t show up they won’t get any photo ops here. Thoughts?
CASHMERE #WEEKENDRECAP [1.6.12]
Monday, January 9th, 2012
The Cashmere Crew was all over the city this weekend and took advantage of plenty eats, great scenery and art. Take a look for yourself.

Made a trip down to Ikea in Costa Mesa to pick up some desks for the office and remembered that my parents told me about a cool place to grub in Irvine. The illest thing was the bakery. They had a line and someone regulatin’ at the door like it was the hottest club in Hollywood! – Kelly, @Kwoocash

It was an eventful weekend with great company! Had a couple first timers like hole-in-the wall restaurants in Rowland and Fountain Valley. Rode the ferris wheel in Irvine Spectrum! Beautiful lights, but extremely cold! – Chary, @viaCHARY

On Sunday, I met with my friends at a cafe in Koreatown and had sweet potato lattes and condensed milk toast! It was SO GOOD! – Grace, @gracesharkpark [you have to read below to hear about her Saturday night]

Starting a new tradition for 2012…Every first Saturday of the month, Annie, Grace and I will have an international themed dinner, “Mixed Bites”, that focuses on different cultural foods and tastes. Kicking off the new year, I hosted our first dinner with an Italian menu, complete with Capellini pasta, oven roasted butternut squash and broccoli and Pinot Noir to wash it all down. – Kristen, @TambyBear

Finished up the weekend with Mr Brainwash’s show. Still debating if I like him or not, but I definitely enjoyed Seventh Letter Crews contribution on the show. – Alice, @alice_han

I went hiking with some old friends to the top of Ortega Falls in south Orange County. It ended up being perfect weather for some great photos! – Kyle, @kyledineen

Chilled with my parents…went to the Nipsey & Skeme show in Hermosa Beach! – Joseph, @Jo_AktiveNLA

Music. Urth Caffe’s Green Tea Matcha. Paru’s Punjab Glory. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. – Rona, @ronamercado

Spent the weekend monitoring the MyStyleQuickTip Twitter account as it approaches 1 Million followers. Are you following yet? If not, click the Follow button and then RT a #WorthAMillion – Misty, @LuvlyIzMe

This weekend I landed at a house party on the beach in Malibu and was blown away by some amazing art! – Hip Hop meets the Renaissance. – Mimi, @mimijakes

This weekend, I got my workout on Saturday morning with my moms at the Baldwin Hills Jefferson Stairs. Was proud that at 60, she made it to the top for the first time! – Anthony, @antpooh

It was my second time at Picca on Saturday and I loved it even more than the first time. This restaurant is worth a try! – Hila, @Hilala11

This weekend was all about hanging out with friends and being low key. I went bowling and got 1 strike and 2 spares! I also went down to Venice Beach and people watched the day away …. – Brianne, @QueenB1979
This weekend I was suckered into watching “The Devil Inside” which was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad movie. Don’t waste your money on nonsense. – Selene, @ms_sele

Drove by Staples Center Saturday night and was reminded of how blessed I was to be living in such a beautiful city. – Tim, @itisTimbo

I made smores yo! I ate mine before i could take any photos. – Jasmin, @jasminn

Los Angeles is such an incredible city that envelopes every aspect a vibrant city of such magnitude could possess, from the exciting nightlife to a budding art and food scene. LA is definitely a cultural powerhouse with a never-ending plethora of events and places to check out. However, for those with absolutely no money to go anywhere like myself, I made a reservation at my favorite local spot named “Cafe A-Ron,” aka “The Chocolate Bar”. Located in the bustling area known as my living room, this favorite little dive offers everything from cable TV, moderately priced drinks, and a food menu that boasts three types of Hot Pockets. The service can be considered lacking at best, but with such competitive prices and lively entertainment and company, you should definitely give Cafe A-Ron a chance. If anything you can be all trendy and tell all your friends you knew about it first, before it got all commercial and sold out. – Aron, @womenbeshoppen1
My weekend was degrading. In a funny way though. I hung out with the famous comic out of Australia (even though he lives here) Eddie Ifft. He decided to take a video of me before we went surfing and put it on his podcasts’ youtube page. It’s one of the top podcasts in the world and now I’m famous for being out of shape. Take a look

I did plenty of eating this weekend. Friday evening I convinced a friend to cook chicken enchiladas for my Stampede compadres (Teff, KiKi & Meko). They helped convince as well. Saturday I ran a few errands but found time to stop by Bayou Grill (which I used to frequent when we were in our old office) to pick up some jambalaya and gumbo. Sunday I was working but took a break to check out Oo-Kook in Koreatown with some good friends and my younger brother. All you can eat Korean BBQ and what seemed like bottomless bottles of Soju. All in all a good weekend with food, family and friends. – Brandon, @Eazee

I started the weekend by taking my friends out to Roscoes. It was their first time there. We also got our cars washed…I introduced them to Tender Greens in Culver City as well. We ended the weekend by playing with their new cat. – Ashten, @whoopthis
Cashmere #WeekendRecap
Monday, December 12th, 2011
“If you like vodka, you should try the Silo Vodka freezer bar!”
-Annie, @ShenANNIEgans
“This weekend, my retired neighbor, who plays in a blues band, hooked me up with an Fender Guitar and amp. Thanks to hours of playing Rock Band and my affinity for Prince’s music, I’ve been wanting to learn how to play for a while. When I knocked on his door to ask for his advice on a guitar purchase and if he could provide some lessons, he let me borrow the equipment to get the feel of it before I make my purchase. He’s already taught me to play my first song and Cashmere staff will be disappointed to learn it’s not a Prince song, but instead Nirvana’s classic track, “Come As You Are.”
-Anthony, @antpooh
“Started the weekend with our Holiday party, then Saturday I ran around the city for a number of events. Two notable ones were the opening of the New Era LA Flagship store on Melrose. I made it in time for the Surf Club performance that included Chase N. Ca$he, Kent M$ney and Audio Push. Hit-Boy was also there to support. The store is laid out nice and sits in a prime location for people looking to shop in various lanes of fashion.”
“After that I ran over to the opening of COLORS in Downtown. Thurzday has a hand in this new store that is directly next to Holy Grail. The hats and clothing here will definitely complement all the shoes you can buy out of Holy Grail. Young Guru (Jay-Z’s engineer) was on hand to DJ along with producer Ro Blvd. The place was packed with fashion folks, tastemakers and some of California’s hip-hop scene. The layout of the store (every colored hat from the high ceiling to the floor) and the color changing sign complemented the name of the store perfectly. I didn’t “Watch the Throne” last night but I might extend that weekend fun to tonight.”
-Brandon, @Eazee
“This weekend I went to Rockreation and rock climbed for the first time without a harness. At night I got together with some Cashmere and Stampede peeps at the new vodka bar in DTLA called SILO for @rodnotrob’s 30th birthday party.”
-Kristen, @tambybear
“Spent all of Sunday having a nice picnic with my friends and Puppy. We went to a new restaurant, Milo and Olive (Delicious- I highly recommend it to everyone) and picked up food for the picnic.”
-Hila, @Hilala11
“I got to DJ for my friend’s birthday party at Proof Bar in Orange County. It was good times seeing lots of old friends again.”
-Kyle, @KyleDineen
“This weekend, I took my first ever trip to San Diego County’s Viejas Outlet Center to do some holiday shopping, and boy did I come up! From some great deals from my favorite outlet stores paired with an awesome scenery composed of a soaring decorative Christmas tree, beautiful mountains and the largest ice skating rink in SoCal. I was in for a good time.”
-Misty, @LuvlyIzMe
“At church, I’m in charge of the media department, who’s responsible for the video capture and social media updates. Greater Metropolitan MBC starts at 9am every Sunday. Check us out!”
-Shakes, @DJWillieShakes
“Sunday, I hit up the Staples Center to see Jay Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne Tour. I’ve been to a lot of shows throughout the years, but they certainly had the most sensory overload. Especially, sitting in the 7th row! Here’s some clips from the night courtesy of my iPhone.”
