BALANCE BY ARTS INAUGURAL FUNDRAISER: COMEDY SHOW [EVENT RECAP]

Last Sunday on behalf of Cashmere, I went to support for my dear friend Dominique LaFargue’s first fundraiser for Balance By Arts. The newly-formed nonprofit, is an innovative outreach organization committed to creatively educating youth about responsible methods of dealing with teen issues. Dominique and her partners (Dana Moore & Randi Taylor) seek to educate young people through performing arts, including acting, music and dance.

The fundraiser was a comedy show hosted by James Davis (Baracka Flacka Flame, Funny or Die) and featured a wide variety of young comedians from all over the United States. The diverse lineup included comics from various races, including black, white and Indian. The crowd laughed throughout the event and a few lucky supporters went home with raffle prizes, such as a G-Shock watch, an iPhone case, headphones and an iPad. It was a great time and a great cause. L.A. TACO presents TACO MADNESS PARTY

Today we are celebrating Taco Tuesday with LA TACO and their Taco Madness Party!

LA Taco is one of our favorite LA based sites to visit and every year they create a bracket-style tournament to crown LA’s favorite taco. Previous winners include Mexicali Taco & Co., La Estrella, and Yucca’s.

$15 for all you can eat tacos and homemade horchata along with some of LA’s fave sights and sounds? WE’RE THERE!

Respect The West Showcase

As you all know by now we were down in Austin, TX heavy for SXSW.  We had our panel and of course our two showcases.  Above are the video recaps for both nights.  The AllHipHop Breeding Ground showcase on Friday that featured Snoop Dogg, Mystikal, Timbaland, Smoke DZA, Don Trip and more.  Special surprise guests like Wiz Khalifa, ASAP Rocky and Curren$y also showed up.  Saturday we had our 3rd Annual Respect the West showcase featuring Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q and Pac Div just to name a few.  Check out the recaps and feel free to go here to see the recorded shows.

We’re not only throwing a dope music event but we’re putting on an incredible panel at SXSW next week. From The Blocks to the Blogs will be moderated by our very own Ryan Ford and will feature Elliott Wilson, Karen Civil, Devi Dev, Justin Siegel and from our Stampede family: Nick Adler. THE VIBEHOUSE RETURNS TO SXSW NEXT WEEK

Cashmere Agency brings the most interactive showcase back to Austin, Texas with over 30 of today’s hottest artists.  With a 2 day showcase, we’ll be looking to close out the music part of SXSW with another epic event.  Friday night we have the All Hip-Hop Breeding Ground and Saturday we’re back with our 3rd Annual Respect the West showcase.  With acts like Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T., Nipsey Hussle, Mystikal, Dom Kennedy, Don Trip and more; as well as other surprise guests…this is not a show you want to miss if you’re in Austin next week.  Check the Respect the West promo video below and then hit the jump to check out the flyers for each night and RSVP.

CHIME.IN x SPOTIFY at SXSW

With over 2,000 bands performing at 90+ different venues in downtown Austin, SXSW can be a bit overwhelming, even to the most seasoned tastemaker.

Luckily the music aficionados within Chime.in’s Music Discovery Community have done much of the legwork for you by curating a massive SXSW Spotify playlist of key songs from the best new artists who will be performing at the legendary music conference this year.  If you plan on attending SXSW, this playlist will serve as a fantastic primer before you go about setting your show schedules.  Even if you can’t make the festival this year, this is a great way to discover tons of new bands, many of whom the industry will be buzzing about for years to come.
