The Carter

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Lil’ Wayne’s success and fame is colossal!! At this point, one should ask, “what hasn’t this man done?” At the young age of 27, Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. has achieved what most people could never do in a lifetime.  When most 14-year-old boys were adjusting to high school life, chasing girls and playing sports, Lil’ Wayne signed his first record deal with Cash Money Records as part of the Hot Boys.

When Southern rap began to explode onto the hip-hop scene, Lil’ Wayne made sure he was a pioneer and leader in the movement – making popular songs “Tha Block Is Hot” “Back That Azz Up” and the infamous “Bling Bling”.  Since his emergence, Lil’ Wayne has taken his fame and fortune into another relm, that which deems him a legend in the music industry.  And to document Wayne’s illustrious career and lifestyle, QD3 Entertainment presents the world premiere of the Lil’ Wayne “The Carter” documentary directed by Adam Bala Lough.  Check out the trailer below.  “The Carter” will be available on 11/17 only on http://thecarterdoc.com/.  Get your pre-orders now!

With Ninja Assassin’s release date of November 25th steadily approaching, buzz for the slick martial arts movie continues to grow. One release sure to further anticipation for the flick’s premiere is a fitting collaboration between Ninja Assassin and new clothing company, My Ninja! To celebrate the movie’s impending release, My Ninja! has designed a line of limited-edition tees featuring central character Raizo, portrayed by Korean pop sensation Rain. These are it!

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

There seems to be a trend hitting the big screen lately.  From eye-opening and life-changing films to a continuum of passionate movies carrying sincere messages…there appears to be NO slowing down of this wonderful trend.  Wearing a badge of honor for being a film enthusiast, I am very excited for ‘Precious’ and ‘This Is It’ to dwell movie theaters with more than candy wrappers to take home.

precious

Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, Precious, the Dramatic film winner at this year’s Sundance Festival, is produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, with direction from Chicago’s own Lee Daniels. The powerful cast includes Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Sherri Shepherd, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey and introduces Gabourey Sidibe in her debut role as the protagonist and [physically, verbally and emotionally] abused and illiterate teenager in Harlem with 2 children as a result of rape by her father.

With a constant buzz of Oscar nominations, Sidibe will continue in a year of firsts, possibly getting the Best Actress Award her first time around.

‘This Is It’ is a highly anticipated film that spreads the beacon of light Michael Jackson imposed on the entire world, in rare behind-the-scenes footage of the King of Pop’s last rehearsals as he prepared for his final tour in London’s O2 Arena. The realistic part of this broadly talented man is that he was human…and taking away all judgment of his personal life…he was a perfectionist, sensitive and nurturing to all who worked with him and was near him professionally. From handpicking background dancers to spotlighting his musicians and singers in performances, Michael Jackson believes in a total production. He gives back to those that supply the priceless tools of support, investment and devotion – his fans.

Catch the breath-taking and emotional tribute to Michael Jackson’s extraordinary life and career in a film directed by Kenny Ortega, MJ’s creative partner and director of the tour’s stage show.

Dear Lemon Lima!

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

ct_lemonlima

Tuesday night, Cashmere got to attend the screening of Dear Lemon Lima at the Nike Montalban Theater in Hollywood.  Directed and created by the ever so talented Suzi Yoonessi, Dear Lemon Lima is one of the most precious movies we have seen in a long time.  The wittiness and innocence of each character had us laughing throughout the movie’s entirety.

Dear Lemon Lima tells the story of a young Alaskan teenager as she discovers her Yup’ik heritage, while rallying her fellow misfits to compete in her school’s Snowstorm Survivor competition.  All the awhile dealing with the heartbreak of her “first love.”

The move recently premiered at the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival and has gained much attention!

“…As refreshing as an Astro-Pop on a summer’s day.” – LA Times

“More poignant than Napoleon Dynamite.” – Clevland Sun News

“Cotton Candy colored joy.” – Culver City Observer

“This hilarity…is full of spite and spirit!” – The Examiner

The Cashmere family are big supporters of this movie and what it stands for! So make sure you check out their blog to find out when the next showing is! We promise you won’t be disappointed! www.Dearlemonlima.wordpress.com

New Addition to the Autobots!

Friday, February 13th, 2009

That’s right Transformers fans, the Autobots have a new addition! Chevrolet is proud to announce that “Sideswipe” will be played by the new Corvette Stingray Concept. Announced and unveiled yesterday at the Chicago Auto Show, Sideswipe rolled out all crouched and silver, muscular and menacing, ready to pounce. Across his haunches is written “Stingray,” and indeed, a ray glides gently down his voluptuous flanks. The resemblance is unmistakable. The stiff, arching creases over the fenders standing proud over a bulging, muscular hood; the angular split windows curving down over a tapered tail scream “I’m a Corvette – from the future!”

It has been more than a decade since a new Corvette concept has appeared, and it will now be taking the world by storm.
