Blast That Sample
Thursday, October 14th, 2010
More and more music critics scream foul when they identify sampling (digital snapshots of songs, speeches and other audio) and looping (samples that have been prepared to play over and over again) with hip-hop, R&B, or techno. The truth is sampling has been around for decades. More than likely that song on your iPod that stays on repeat is actually a classic track reincarnated.
Enter…Blast That Sample where each week Cashmere hip-hop genius’ aim to one-up your musical expertise and drop jewels on the under appreciated art of hip-hop sampling.
This week’s sample is none other than Bricksquad’s own Gucci Mane “Lemonade” (2009).
Now check the original, “Keep It Warm,” from Flo & Eddie’s 1974 release Moving Targets.

“Looked Medusa in the eye, and Medusa died! #GUCCI!!”
