SPOTIFY TO REMAIN FREE IN THE U.S.

So as we all know, Spotify launched in the U.S. market about nine months ago and told new users they would have no restrictions for the first six months. After their six month run, users would have to start paying for access to certain options. As of today however, Spotify has made it known that they are still allowing unlimited access on their platform indefinitely. There are a couple theories that Mashable has as to why this is so.

A recent study by Simply Measured showed that the new “Timeline” feature on Facebook is giving brands 46% more engagement compared to the other layout. They say these are just preliminary results but it’s interesting nonetheless. For more details check out Mashable.

For some it seems like Twitter became a big thing overnight and then quickly became a normal part of people’s lives. How many times have you heard “I saw it on Twitter a few minutes ago” or “Did you see what [insert celebrity] was tweeting last night?”. It has become a reliable and instant news source for people on the go as well as a useful tool for communication and meeting people. We now see things like hashtags and “@” signs in ads and tv commercials. What will Twitter have for us in the next six years?

CONAN O’BRIEN LAUNCHES APP PROVIDING BONUS CONTENT DURING SHOW

Conan O’Brien launches new app that is free and works with Android and iOS. This app provides a “second screen” enhancement and “…the Team Coco app offers viewers as many as 25 bits of bonus content every episode. It syncs a tablet by detecting the show’s audio using the device’s microphone. Viewers can sync the app to episodes that are live, on DVR or hosted on the app.” – Mashable.

THE POPE JOINS TWITTER FOR LENT

For most practicing Catholics today is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent. Well for Lent the Pope has joined Twitter in an effort to save Lent and attempt to spread the season of Lent and it’s significance to the media savvy youth that many feel has become detached from their faith. Under Pope Benedict XVI the Vatican has had mixed involvement with social media but this might be the most involved example of it. Mashable has an in-depth article here. Websites to Start Blocking Pinterest? [VIDEO]

As Pinterest continues to grow as a the new hit on the internet it may not be as cool as originally thought. As far as use and fun factor Pinterest is great…but some other websites are not as high on the idea of people sharing their images across the web. APPLE UNVEILS OS X MOUNTAIN LION

Apple is set to release their newest OS, named Mountain Lion. It ditches iChat for what iPhone users have become familiar with, iMessage. The new OS also allows sharing via Vimeo, Flickr and a full Twitter integration among other new features. The newest OS is closer to how the iOS works now.
