SUPER BOWL XLVI: GIANTS vs PATRIOTS II [WHO'S YOUR PICK]

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

The rematch it looks like. Going down in Indianapolis.  After some intense conference Championships Eli Manning and Tom Brady will face off against each other to take it all home.  This time the Patriots don’t bring in that undefeated record and Eli has been viewed as a better leader with his 4th quarter drives this season.  Will this be revenge for the Patriots or is it Eli’s chance to “own” Tom Brady in the Super Bowl?  What’s your Super Bowl pick?

The Boring pt. 2 aka The BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

So for the BCS National Championship game we had a rematch of (1) LSU vs (2) Alabama.  On November 5th the two teams played and Alabama lost to LSU in overtime 9-6.  A pretty BORING game.  With a national championship on the line between the 1 and 2 teams, coupled by the fact that one team is seeking revenge and the other team wants to prove their dominance you would think the rematch would be more exciting…WRONG.  Not only were the ratings down from the last time they faced each other, but LSU didn’t show up.  A total of 91 yards from them and they were shutout 21-0.  Alabama got their revenge and just outplayed LSU.  Congrats to Alabama, and since LSU didn’t show up they won’t get any photo ops here.  Thoughts?

#WeekendRecap- RZA, Skydiving, and Vegas

Monday, November 14th, 2011

This past Saturday, the Cashmere team met up with hip hop legend and tech guru RZA to discuss music and his new app, RZA’s World.

“This weekend, I went sky diving for the very first time! It was the scariest and most amazing experience of my life. I’m happy to be alive! I would definitely recommend that everyone does this at least once in their lifetime!”

DANGER!

“I spent this weekend in Vegas on what started as, a lovely trip to do preproduction for a shoot next month, and what ended as, a young man coming to terms with the fact he’s one of the few who definitely can’t handle Vegas. My Friday was very fun. I went to a bar called “Insert Coins” which was an arcade/gaming commune infused with a full fledged night club. I effectively spent more in coins than I did at the bar. On Saturday I did win a lovely $280 at blackjack, which would have paid for my weekend had I not taken myself out for a dinner that cost pretty much that. I would tell you what the name of it was, but I’m still a little fuzzy on the details. Apparently they give you complimentary drinkswhen you’re gambling. Flash forward 18 hours and I’m at a buffet with our very own Grace Park and her awesome sister. That’s where the memories (and bank statements) pick back up. And to show for it, this is the only picture I have of the weekend”

Colin Pierce – @TheColinPierce

“I went to Las Vegas this weekend to see my sister, Betty.  She took me to a couple bars and my favorite was Insert Coins, where they had old arcade games all around the walls of the bar.  I also visited her at her work, American Fish at the Aria, and had an amazing meal”
Grace Park – @gracesharkpark

This weekend I was in Anaheim cage side (and the press box) for the first ever UFC on FOX show at the Honda Center. While most of America only saw a quick, 1:04 knockout of Cain Velasquez by Brazilian bad ass Junior Dos Santos to win the UFC heavyweight title, there were eight other good to great fights I got to witness plus a ton of celebrities. Looking forward to my New Year’s trip to Vegas to watch Brock Lesnar’s return.

Weekend Recap – Music, Sports, Pampering, and Street Wear Hustle

Monday, October 10th, 2011

“On Saturday I met up with our very own James Koo to check out the Building An Industry Career Panel at The Attic in Buena Park.  The panel consisted of the visionaries behind popular brands Black Scale, Crooks & Castles and Diamond Supply Co.  Mega (Black Scale), Dennis (Crooks) & Nick (Diamond) spoke to a remarkable turnout of young potential entrepreneurs looking to start their own fashion brands about their influences, getting started, their rise to where they are now, as well as some insider info.  They took questions from the audience, as well as the UStream that went down.  They also took the time to sign autographs and take pictures with their fans.  For food, the popular OC mobile restaurant “The Lime Truck” was there to feed the attendees.  The Lime Truck was on the TV show The Great Food Truck Race and is powered by another popular streetwear brand IM-King.  Behind The Hustle and Attic put on a great event.  They will be re-running the ustream again on Monday. “

- Brandon Banks (@Eazee)

“I went to the famed Hollywood Bowl to catch one my all time favorite bands, Incubus, as well as  Young The Giant.”

- Alison Kwee (alleykat1110)

“I went to Evidence‘s release party for his new album Cats & Dogs last Thursday at the Viper Room. It was amazing! One of my favorite albums this year so far! Buy it!!!”

- Theresa Aufner (@destined_2_win)

“I went to the Drew League vs Goodman League game at the Pyramid at Long Beach State. Some of the players included John Wall, Kevin Durant, Rudy Gay, James Harden, and Brandon Jennings.”

- Tim Lee (@itistimbo)

“This weekend was a bit different for me as I was on a quest for a nail spa that could give me some Black and Gold Missouri Tiger inspiration. Ya know just in time for Centennial Homecoming (wink). From Yelp to sequenced Google searches and cold calls, I came across Pampered Hands who was able to fulfill my every want and need. It was my Miracle on Melrose St. well Avenue (lol). Pampered Hands not only pampers your hands, but your feet, shoulders, back and oh yeah your stomach too with their fab and free massages as well as baba smoothies and soft drinks. I enjoyed laughter, great conversation from the nail technicians and neighboring clients, and a customized mani and pedi with leopard spots and 3-D Hearts.”

“Rona along with members of the 213 Bike Crew participated for the 3rd time in Ciclavia this year.  For 5 hours yesterday, Sunday Oct. 9th, LA shut down streets and dedicated a 10 mile route to encourage Angeleno’s to bike, walk, skate…anything but drive.  About 130,000 people participated and hit the streets!  Check out some of the photos from LA Weekly here. Shouts out to @azul213, @bobbyramberg, @verbsisthehomie, @mearone, @emortalclothing, @iamreal8, @a_chung and others that participated in @ciclavia!  Next biking event that the biking crew is looking forward to is an event called “Free The Streets

Ciclavia events encourage community building, active lifestyles which promote health, and social consciousness about pollution and our environmental impact in LA.

While NBA Takes a Break, the Drew League Excites Basketball Fans

Monday, July 25th, 2011

It’s been a quiet summer in the world of basketball. The NBA Lockout is in full effect and that means no Las Vegas Summer League, no pre-season training camp, no NBATV, and obviously no regular season. In the midst of all this, Los Angeles has been able to scrap up a few lingering pieces of the NBA and bring them to the legendary Drew League.

Located in Watts, not only has the Drew League been a place of solace for basketball enthusiasts who are dying to see some competitive basketball, it is also a place where current and former NBA players  and even celebrities can go get in on the action themselves. Players such as James Harden, Dorrell Wright, Nick Young, Demar Derozan, Tyreke Evans, Michael Beasley, Derrick Williams, Kevin Durant, and Lebron James have all showcased their talents to the city of Los Angeles.

The Drew League has become synonymous with one of, if not, THE best Pro-Am leagues in the country. Dino Smiley, the Drew League commissioner, has been constantly commended for his creation of the Drew League and the driving force behind it; he always reiterates the fact that the league is for the benefit of the community and most importantly, the kids.

The Drew League holds games every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the best part about it? It’s absolutely FREE. Click here for more information: http://www.drewleague.com/
