ANONYMOUS DOWNS GOVERNMENT & MUSIC INDUSTRY WEBSITES

Friday, January 20th, 2012

In what they called a retaliation for the Department of Justice seizure of Megaupload yesterday, the collective known as Anonymous hacked into and took down websites for Universal Music Group, RIAA, Motion Picture Association of America, the FBI and the Department of Justice.  This was the largest cyber attack ever.  “It was in retaliation for Megaupload, as was the concurrent attack on Justice.org,” Anonymous operative Barrett Brown told RT on Thursday afternoon.  The Megaupload event came the day after the huge web “blackout” movement that was in protest against SOPA & PIPA (two anti-piracy initiatives).  With all these events happening could a cyber war be on the horizon.  What are your thoughts?

IS SWIZZ BEATZ HEADED TO JAIL? FEDS SHUTDOWN HIS MEGAUPLOAD COMPANY

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

After the internet came together to fight SOPA & PIPA interestingly enough the Federal prosecutors have shut down Megaupload.  Megaupload is one of the largest file-sharing sites in the world.  The founder and other employees have been charged with piracy.  Oddly enough it’s CEO Swizz Beatz was in the middle of a copyright infringement case w/ notables such as Kanye West, Diddy, Chris Brown, Will.I.AM and more.  These artists came out in support of Megaupload in 2011 with a song.  It’s interesting to see that someone who works within the music industry is a CEO of a service that the music industry alleges takes money out of their pockets.  Will Swizz see “fed time”?  For more details on this story check out Complex.
