Many of you may remember the beloved cartoon from a little bit back in the day with the short blue animation figures – yeah, The Smurfs! Well, its back bigger, wider and in 3-D! Sony Pictures is releasing the film animation next summer on the big screen. Check out the synopsis:

“Audiences everywhere are in for a Smurfy good time as the Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen in Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation’s hybrid live-action and animated family comedy, The Smurfs.

When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours — in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.”

The BET Awards celebrated their 10th anniversary this past Sunday night with a memorable ceremony from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. Many of the music industry’s biggest stars were on hand for the event: Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Drake, Usher, Eminem, T.I. Monica, among others.

Two of the night’s most talked about moments came courtesy of ’80s soul singer El Debarge, who performed the first single from his upcoming album, “Second Chance,” plus a medley of his hits “I Like It,” “Rhythm of the Night,” and “All This Love, and Chris Brown who came back to pay tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

The show ended paying homage to another ’80s pop icon, Prince. Janelle Monae, Alicia Keys, Trey Songz, and Patti Labelle performed a number of his song, before  Prince himself took to the stage to receive his Lifetime Achievement Award.

With #HappyBirthday2Pac trending on Twitter, the world has no choice but to take notice that today, June 16th, is being celebrated as an unofficial hip-hop holiday, honoring one of most reputable rap artists to ever touch a mic.

Tupac “Makavelli” Shakur met an untimely death on September 13, 1996, when he was gunned down on Las Vegas streets. Today, Pac’s music lives on, banging through speakers at gangsta parties, expressing love and appreciation for mama and embracing lifes changes.

In honor of Dougie Fest 2010, we have to give it up for California Swag District, who set up shop in Downtown L.A. yesterday, and ripped it during the shoot for the official music video for their hit single “Teach Me How To Dougie.” JayAre, M-Bone, C-Smoove Da General and Yung, along with what seemed like all of Los Angeles, gave it up for the West Coast version of ‘dougieing’. In less than a year, Cali Swag District has experienced instant success after releasing their viral video online. To date it has received close to two million views on YouTube.

Respected video director Yolande Geralds, who has also worked with Trey Songz and Plies, took Cali Swag District and the dougie worldwide, displaying the many forms of this dance craze. They even had dancers from India there representing. The graffiti tagged warehouse set the backdrop and the dancers in attendance served the cameras up with crazy energy. Skateboarders, BMX’ers and candy-painted low riders set the scene. It was so LA, every entity made the shoot magical.

The group was also gifted with an exclusive MetroPCS Sanctioned Motorola Phone by Mister Cartoon and an Official Boondocks Huey Freeman Soapbox.

Hosted by rapper Jay Rock on April 28th from 7-11 PM, “A Nightmare on Fairfax” will also feature the unveiling of the  limited edition, Freddy Krueger inspired, Diamond Supply Co. T-Shirt along with a number of other Freddy Krueger inspired art installations by local Los Angeles artists.

Bankysy is a pseudonymous graffiti artist who combines graffiti writing with a distinctive stenciling technique. You may not know who the elusive Banksy is, but you’ve for sure seen his work at some point or another.

His art has popped up in cities around the world and is tinged with a twisted sense of humor. Sorry, he doesn’t sell photos of his street art. But that hasn’t stopped auctioneers worldwide from trying to sell his art on location and leave the problem of its removal in the hands of the winning bidder.
