SNOOP DOGG LAUNCHES NEW VIRAL VIDEO MARKETING INITIATIVE

Still staying ahead of the viral video marketing game, Snoop Dogg has launched a series of viral videos, aimed at garnering the attention of various celebrities. It’s all in the promotion of his latest project, My #1 Priority, a compilation of the greatest Priority Records hits of the last 25 years — and of course, Snoop himself.

Slowly released within the past two weeks, the videos include shout-outs to Britney Spears, Al Gore, Kevin Smith, Martha Stewart, Weird Al Yankovic, MC Hammer, Shaquille O’Neal, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, John Mayer and Ashton Kutcher. Snoop tweeted a link to each video at the celebrities he shouted out to from his Twitter account to theirs.

And Snoop Dogg’s social networking friends and followers are getting some love in this campaign as well. One lucky Twitter follower will get a chance to receive a personalized Snoop Dogg “Twizzle” message by retweeting any of the Boss Dogg’s “Celebrity Twizzle” video links.

Artists: Keep Your Social Networking Game Up!!!

Over the weekend, one of Cashmere’s own was introduced to two new artists. Immediately, our intern, Saqqara, went to her social networking profile to share her excitement. Not only did she update her Facebook and MySpace status, but took the extra to find both of the artists, Aaron Fresh and Big Sean, on Twitter.

Even though she knew most artists had their social sites run by personnel, it still gave her a sense of connection. The importance of this connection coupled, with liking of their music, will probably turn her into a paying consumer.

With the current financial state of the music industry, its increasingly becoming important for artists to make this connection with their fans. Marketing and promotion makes a humongous impact on the sales of an artist, but it is the fan that is spending their hard earned money. As long as artist’s continue to use their social sites to truly connect with their consumers and consistently put out a good product, then these artists should be able to establish a solid fan base that will grow with them in their careers.

The Force is Strong with Young Snoop Dogg

The big homie Snoop Dogg showcased his Jedi lightsaber skills to deal with some fools in this re-enactment of the famous Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope cantina scene.

Promoting the Adidas Originals Star Wars line, Snoop joined a star studded cast that included the likes of David Beckham, Daft Punk, Franz Beckenbauer, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, Ciara, Jay Baruchel, DJ Neil Armstrong among others.

MASH SF Heads to Los Angeles for Project Space Exhibition

If you didn’t know, Mash SF is an enthusiastic group of cyclists that have come from various endeavors to focus and share their passion for riding bikes. This Saturday, in conjunction with Project Space, MASH is hosting a special exhibition entitled “Revisit MASH Tour of California,” a retrospective on their journey during the 2009 Tour of California.

The show presented along with Arkitip and Incase is a summation of Mash SF crashing the course of the 2009 Tour of California (9 Days, 700 Miles, one gear ratio at a time). artifacts from the tour, such as road-worn bicycles, a torn kit from the 2009 Tour and more will all be on display.

The opening reception for the MASH exhibition takes place Saturday, May 22nd, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Preceding the opening reception is the MASH-organized fixed gear only race from Echo Park. The race finishes at Project Space, culminating with an awards ceremony during the exhibition’s opening reception.

Instructables Restaurant Digesting The Web

Meeting up at a restaurant for a business meeting, or celebrate with friends just got savvier. Instructablesrestaurant.com is the first open source restaurant in the world that combines free culture with food concepts.

Everything in the restaurant is created from Instructables, a web-based documentation platform where other online users share their knowledge with the community. In the Instructables Restaurant, the person dining in leaves knowing how to make the food they just ate, as well as how to create furniture, and the restaurant in a whole.

Anyone can open an Instructables Restaurant, but you have to be creative and willing to use your network. Playing for Change – Music making a Difference

Playing for Change started in 2004 as simply an idea to put together a project which would inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through music. The creators of the project, Mark Johnson and Enzo Buono, traveled around the world to places such as New Orleans, Barcelona, South Africa, India, Nepal, The Middle East and Irelan and and using a mobile recording studio, had local musicians perform the same song, interpreted into their own style.

The project’s first single “Stand by Me” began with a street performer in Santa Monica named Roger Ridley. They then traveled the world and had more musicians add their versions which were mixed together for the final version. This one inspiring song and video demonstrates how powerful music can be in connecting cultures across the world. Since 2004, Playing for Change has recorded many more songs like “Stand by Me”, released a compilation CD and documentary and are now bringing Playing for Change into the education realm by building music schools for children around the world.
